Well the 4 kids are all adults now. It's been almost 30 years since we had a vacation without wrangling rug rats and curtain climbers, and saying phuck you to other "parents" who dont approve of toddler leashes and harnesses, so were heading out on vacation without kids for the first time since George Bush sr was president.

Were going to Disney World and would like info if you have been recently. Were from AZ so this is our first trip to that coast. I'm not going to say when except before spring break. I'm hoping to get in a rocket launch while there.

Any tips or cant miss stuff.

Full disclosure. For anyone with nefarious intentions.

I'll be leaving a house full of armed girls and big dogs and pre-dug grav er trash disposal pits so good luck trying to take advantage of my being gone.

Lol you put your kids on leashes? Hilarious.

Anyway, I went to Disney world around two years ago when I was out at cape Canaveral on business and I went with one of my good friends that worked at NASA at the time. Just use the fast pass system. Basically puts you in a time slot for a short line to get on rides. Just organize those well and you'll hit all the rides you really want to go on. I'm assuming you'll have passes to all the kingdoms. I recommend just sweeping through one at a time. We found first thing in the morning you'll generally have run of the place, especially in older kingdoms.

As far as launches go, Palladia beach is usually a good place to view a launch from. But there's a few other spots. Sometimes best thing is to just hang out at fishlips or grills and watch while you eat and get thoroughly sloshed

No advice but congrats! My 3 are out of the house as of 1.5 years ago, sold the big house and moved to Little Elm. So I bought the Wrangler and the two of us are taking trips to places we've wanted to see but haven't since 1990. Granted grandchild #2 was born in Nov and #3 is coming in April. Enjoy your freedom!

Went there last year with 3 grandkids, 2 daughters and one SIL. It was not the happiest place on earth. This was in May and it was about 95 with 95% humidity and everyone was miserable. If you do not know the fastpass system you are stuck waiting in god awful lines for over an hour.

    Out here by the lake!
Why in hell would a man go there? Of the people that I know who went.
#1 My sister, who is divorced has been shit load of times with her grandkids. Only reason I see that she went was my dad wouldn't take her when she was young.

#2 A buddies know ex wife has been 3 times dragging her parents along. My buddy never went as he had to work to pay for it. They are divorced because of her pissing away money.

#3 Chick I worked long time seasonal job with went once. Seen it for the money grabbing scam it was. Her husband went only because he didn't have to pay.

There are books on how to be efficient at working the parks. Last time I went (and it's been long enough that this has probably all changed), reservations for restaurants had to be made in person, on the day. Thus, the key to everything was arriving at the gate an hour early (they sometimes open early) then dashing to the two or three places we wanted to eat to make reservations as the first task of the day. That provided structure to the entire day. I can't imagine enjoying myself any other way.

One person (thankfully just one) in our party thought this was disgusting behavior that took all the spontaneity out of the day. Personally, I can't understand how some people say they prefer to just wander and see where that takes them but if you're one of those folks then you should ignore everything I say.

Bottom line: My approach is to figure out what has to be done to make your day work for you. Do that. Let everything else fall into place after you've made those decisions.

Gantt charts and a critical path analysis are optional but recommended. :)

Theme parks are to be avoided as they're hideously expensive, plus you get the joy of experiencing long lines of tortuous wait...for every thing.

Suggestions: Go to the beach, go to the mountains, go to the Hill Country, but for gawds sake don't go to ditney.....

I still can't wrap my head around putting kids on leashes, and I actually had a runner when he was little. Adventurer, more accurately, just like his old man. But hey, your kid your rules.

We took the older two to Disney when the daughter was about 3 years old. It truly was a world of wonder and magic for her, and the employees do a great job with making sure kids have a great time. Definitely go when it's off season, and preferably when it's cooler.

I'm trying to remember the couple of days per year when folks in the know say it's best to go if you want reasonable weather and thinner crowds. Was it the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving? I think so.

I can ask one of my employees, she goes 3-5 times a year.

Does she have kids or is she still a kid?
I have a friend, a young lady in her early 30s, who basically plans her life around her twice-a-year trips to a Disney park. She's unmarried, no kids. She just loves the whole Disney ecosystem.

We lived about 20 mins from Disneyland in CA. We don’t have kids but the wife and I had season passes.

It was pretty fun to go on a random Tuesday night, have dinner, watch a parade or show and go home. Didn’t feel a need to cram everything into one visit.

Drunk Disney is a thing and we really enjoyed it
