Higher IQ anuses not withstanding, schlieren photography demonstrates quite clearly that raindrops deflect bullets quite a bit. Many say this is impossible, point being it was probably the reason for the groups more so than wet tables and slippery arms if the gun was shot off a rest.

To follow with a High IQ anus question of my own, can a gun fire in a vacuum? Are there enough nitrates in the powder to over come absence of atmospheric oxygen?
Not an expert in physics by any means, but I suspect rainfall, especially light rain fall, will not have a discernible effect on bullets at 25 yards. Much like wind will not have a discernible effect on bullets at 25 yards.

So, how hard was it raining when he was shooting?

How many rain drops were impacted in the .002 or so seconds it was in flight?

What are the odds that any rain drops even crossed the path of the bullet in that time frame? Were there any?

One drop is all that's needed, and the bullet deflection can be seen in just a couple bullet lengths.

In fact Guns n Ammo TV is doing schlieren video of bullets, shockwaves effect on bullet types etc and, just recently, a rain drops effect on bullets. One drop visibly changed its trajectory over just a couple bullet lengths. More than one will compound the effect.

Bottom line is I suspect larger groups, have more to do with the rain than wet tables when using a rest.

Sold a RIA MAPP in 9mm and 22TCM9r and was given the opportunity to shoot it...was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it......a joy to shoot in both rounds.......

    Yes. Absolutely.

My biggest facepalm moment with the sci-fi series Firefly was when Jane said he couldn't fire his rifle, Vera, without air. They put the rifle in a space suit to shoot it. I have no idea why; the plot didn't need that problem and it was garbage from a firearms viewpoint. Why the tech adviser on site didn't catch it, I don't know.

Underwater is oxygen rich, so I'm not sure what point that video serves.

I think the biggest issue to watch if trying to fire a gun in space would be the air pressure inside of the case attempting to push the bunker out and escape.

That, and the recoil sending you tumbling off in to the emptiness. Better tie off to something.

It can support combustion if there's enough energy put into it, or if it reacts with chemicals.
OK. Got it. But neither of those cases is under consideration.
Either way it doesn't answer the question.
    Really? The original question was:
Are there enough nitrates in the powder to over come absence of atmospheric oxygen?
    Emphasis added.

So, isn't shooting a firearm underwater a good way to demonstrate that atmospheric oxygen isn't required for the process? If not, then I seem to be missing something.

Oh I got that. I'm just sorry the brilliant subtlety of my advanced sense of humor was so lost upon those with primitive senses of humor. Otherwise the question would have not needed to be asked.
