You are incorrect in your assumption as to my tone. I was never a Boy Scout but always have believed in the practicality of their motto: "Be Prepared". You did not hear or see my words imply any such thing as you inferred from them. As for freedom being scary, when one of the cowboys in a circus like security team wounds or kills a church member accidentally I am sure that person or his heirs would be free to sue; yes freedom is indeed scary especially when people are irresponsible or careless in how they use it. You did not see me even hinting that any regulation be placed on them, I was wondering if they were doing it responsibly. Let's face it - there are wrong ways and right ways to do thing and when you are talking the protection of others and possibly the use of deadly force - you may as well at least try to do it with great care and reasonable preparedness. I don't give a shit how they do it, I was just wondering how they were doing it and if they were doing it responsibly. I did not for a moment question, hint at, think of whether or not they were (as you, not me, said) professional enough. Your preconceived notions about what I think have been amazingly prejudicial and totally without merit.
    Yeah, ok.

Medical is a good point, look around for stop the bleed courses, I'd imagine an instructor would be willing to do one at your church.

Force on force, however basic can be an eye opener. Even if It's airsoft.

See if you can find a local instructor with a good reputation. I don't mean to be rude, but from your other thread, some other members of your security team really have no business providing security.

I have to wonder, relative to places of worship organizing armed security teams - are they getting professional guidance on how to do so such as what needs to be considered relative to qualifying as an armed security person; what training is needed and minimally should be given to participants such as firearms training, tactical training, unarmed combat techniques, deescalation methods, detention methods, medical training, legal guidance, what to do when police arrive after a violent encounter, and so forth; which equipment is needed; communications; shooter's and medical insurance for participants; legal coverage for participants should lawsuits be filed and on and on - or are they just throwing this together and winging it on a prayer so to speak?

Training to that degree may not be provided at all churches.

But still better than having nothing and going through another Sutherland Springs.

This ain't a perfect world in more ways than one.

Church volunteer security for years was regulated by the TXDPS Private Security Bureau. It was a clusterfuck.
The state decided a couple of legislative sessions ago to get completely out of the church security business and went with more of a “shall not be infringed” policy.

Just to clarify, you mentioned "volunteer" in your opening statement, but in regards to the current state involvement you were not clear that volunteer church goers are not regulated, and that other, standard type security still is.

Again, just to clarify for others.

Churches should be required to turn their security into a bureaucratic nightmare of biblical proportion cuz that's how they do it in all the yankee states where citizens aren't allowed self defense with guns, they'll freely tell you how too........cuz they know best how to do it.....they smarter they is.
