Here's one of the oldest from my collection, which I'm now liquidating. 1943 Colt with a '42 slide that was redone by the late Bill Adair in Dallas. Bill was the best 1911 restoration guy before his death several years ago. All markings were redone and the frame reparked. Slide, barrel and all the small parts are original finish. Frame color matches slide perfectly. Barrel is a very early post-war Colt (C in the box) that is mint. I had this done to look good, but be able to shoot also. It's about flawless, and groups superbly with GI match ball. MUCH better than a rattletrap CMP sand-blasted gun with Israeli parts. $1200.00, FTF central TX. I have more pics, but it's best to see it in person. Reduced to $1100.00.
