The Sig 1911 Ultras are excellent.
Absolutely I love it. Here is the CHL qualification target. The instructor ask me to stop hitting the center. He couldn’t see any other holes. Scored a 250 out of 250
The Sig STX is more accurate but it is longer.

You don’t own any more do you? The one referenced. I see the defender model is around 500 on buds.

The “Defender Series” is the one I got. It says “Mil-Spec” on it, though. I think it’s the same as the slightly more expensive Mil-Spec model but with different grips, only one mag (instead of two), and it comes in a cardboard box instead of a hard plastic case. Supposedly made in Illinois using a forged frame and slide.

I haven’t shot mine yet. Comparing it to my stainless Colt Competition, the trigger doesn’t feel as nice and the thumb safety is a bit harder to move. But otherwise it looks to be of pretty decent quality. FWIW, Colt Competition shoots superbly, though, and is smooth as butter.

I got my Springfield for about $540 or so with tax from a local FFL who had the last one in stock. He said they sold pretty quick given their price point.

Put some rounds through it. Manipulate the thumb safety. They will set in. The MIM ignition controls will smooth out with rounds as well.

You can not compare those to pistols. Night and day. MilSpdc is not a custom fit piece like the Colt is supposed to be. Just on different playing fields.

Oh, I agree. The Mil-Spec Defender Series is certainly no slouch. It’s nice enough as it is, and I can’t wait to shoot it. I thought I’d relay my personal opinion after handling the two, though.

I have a Colt Defender that does not say "mill spec" on it or the box, etc. I've got a laser grip on it and it shoots great.

Oh, I hope I didn’t confuse anyone. Mine’s a full-size Springfield that has “Mil-Spec” stamped on it. It’s part of Springfield’s Defender Series. I could be wrong, but I think the Defender Series is Springfield’s budget line of pistols.

I think it’s the same gun as the standard milspec, it just ships with less crap.

I already have 15 different 1911 magazines, holsters, and over 1 thousand rounds of 45.
