So I'm looking at baseplates for my 19/34 Glocks.

They take the same after market baseplate right? Obviously they use different springs.

I read that a 19 extended base plate will not work on a 17 is this true? Looking at a couple plus 5/6 if it makes a difference.

    I can get a 19 base with 17 springs cheaper than a 17 package.

A 19 baseplate should be fine on a 17 magazine. I have this feeling you may have misunderstood what you read.

A 19 baseplate doesn't make it a magazine that will work in a G17 gun. This may be what you read.

Keep in mind that a G19+5 is a 20 round magazine. A G17 magazine is only 17 rounds.

The G17 magazine spring may be too short to work in your new 20 round magazine.

I know the springs won't be correct, just making sure the baseplate itself will work.

They vaguely made it sound like it's a slightly different base plate which made no sense

All glock 9mm, .40, and .357 sig baseplates are the same across generations and model numbers.

    Not even close.

Plates that came with Gen2, Gen3, Gen5, and 19x are all different. I cannot comment on Gen1 or Gen4 as I have none. and I am only talking about standard double stack plates, the +2 baseplates have at least 2 styles I own, and single stack magazines are different still.

Perhaps what you meant is the 9/40/357 double stack magazine baseplates are all interchangeable.

The baseplates, practically speaking, are all the same. Though they may be different styles, are are almost interchangeable. Gen 1 mag baseplates are a bit too skinny to perfectly fit on later gen mags, later base plates work fine on gen 1 mags, though the inserts will need to be modified

However, if it pleases you, yes, i meant interchangeable.
