In Ohio the numbers are tiny but should be zero!
0.0000171 fraudulent votes for every legitimate vote. 58,441 legitimate votes for each fraud.
Nothing new. This is probably a pittance when compared to LBJs South Texas dead voter turnout?

    Agree.

    WSJ:
".....while the number of fraudulent votes in this case is relatively small—77 votes out 4,496,834 ballots cast in November 2018 —the perpetrators should have the book thrown at them...."

But how do you know the numbers are small? If you have someone filling out the mail in ballots that is a paid staffer for a particular party and not the true individual how do you know or find out that that is a fraudulent vote? There are a lot of mail in ballots and who knows for sure how many are filled in by the actual voter or a paid party staffer.

    No early voting.
    No mail in.
    ID required.

Personally would like to see some short, random quiz about government, at a minimum. How many branches or government, names of a few of the key ones, etc.

We had that. In fact, the last poll test in Texas was a beautiful, simple quiz that only weeded out folks so stupid or crazy that everyone would agree they shouldn't vote.

    But it was too late.

Poll testing had already been so abused in some jurisdictions that the courts would never go along with their continued use. It will never return.

I’m intrigued. When was that? What types of things were asked?

    Any good links?

I’m sure you’ve seen where Waters, or others, go and asks questions to folks randomly on the street. The question about how many branches and the names was one that flabbergasted me. Folks that said they vote had no idea.

Let's start with a bad test.

Here's an example, from Louisiana, of the type of test used at the discretion of the poll workers to prevent people they didn't like from voting, i.e. it wasn't mandatory for everybody but was given at the discretion of the poll workers who were almost always incumbent party apparatchiks.

Does that give you an idea why the courts struck them down?

OTOH, perhaps Alabama wasn't as bad. Their written literacy test is here. People shouldn't have to jump through that many hoops to vote but arguing over that point isn't worth wasting our collective breath. Most black voters never got to the written test.

You see, in order to get to the written test, you first had to pass an oral literacy test. The oral test was administered by a registrar who had wide latitude to make it impossible to pass, to restructure the test and substitute questions to favor white voters, and to render a final decision about the literacy of a voter. If a black person in a jurisdiction that didn't want black people voting mispronounced a word from a gigantic paragraph of legalese, they were sent away.

    When was that?
Literacy tests date back to the 1800s. The worst literacy tests were struck down in the south in 1965. There were 18 remaining states with literacy tests. They scrambled to make their tests more reasonable but in 1970 all such tests were outlawed.

    Any good links?
I'm looking but not successfully when it comes to the final, 1970 version of the Texas literacy test.

We studied it in high school and I remember it being simple, on point, and quite short with, iirc, 6 questions.

If I manage to stumble across the text, I'll post back.

OTOH, if you're searching for general data on literacy tests, their history and application, a simple search engine query will inundate you in sources, many of which conflict with each other. This is one of those subjects where lots of different people have lots of reasons to re-interpret history. It's even possible to find sources that tell you Texas never put a literacy test into law. That may be true but it doesn't change the fact that they were administered and that I studied them in my high school Civics class in the mid-1970s.

@benenglish Thanks for the info, I’ll read it over very closely.

Would you said “we” I thought you meant more recent tests in Texas.

Always interesting to see what has been taught in school over the years and what has, more recently, been left out.

That’s pretty bad and has nothing to do with politics/government.

Strongly disagree with no early voting.

For those of us who travel on business, we would miss most elections.

Voting should take place over a four day period. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

In order to vote you should have to show valid ID, once you've voted you are required to dip your finger in ink to show you've voted.

Been saying it and lots of other things for a long time. hell i predicted the anti-latino violence in el paso back in 2010.

I really think in latino areas ( and no offense to the patriots who dont think borders are meant to be crossed) it is very likely and honestly i think that the democrat athiest bisexual who won in 2018 and kelly might win for the dems in 2020 is because of possible voter fraud. I hope trump has ICE at polling places checking license plates and so forth.

Our country's coffin is made. Depends on how many nails. The truth is blacks are dem all the way. Latinos majority are, but as hard as they work and family values republicans have some good possiblity but no one can out pander a democrat. SOmeone can work their tail off, but if you work as a roofer and teh wife works at mcdonalds and you breed 10 kids you are going to need government subsidies and the party of those is the democrats.

Illegal immigration and anchor baby citizenship will be what destroys our nation or brings it into a race war. i hate to say that and dont want to see it, but sadly it seems writing is on the wall and the majority of republicans and conservatives are white and we produce the least babies ( also per captia are least likely to be on the dole). The thing is at the end of the day it is money hungry, power hungry self hating white liberals that allowed this.

There was a slew of potential Democrat voters today at the NY DMV as illegals applied for DLs under their new law.

You may recall that amidst the hoopla surrounding Trump's election was his move to audit states for voter fraud. That effort ran into a brick wall when the Secretary of States in most of the major Democrat controlled states refused to cooperate and the current (at that time) judicial system upheld the sovereignty of states to run their own election processes.

A recent audit of ONE county in Florida revealed 24,000 illegal registered voters in that jurisdiction. If that is one county in one state, you can just imagine what it will be like when the immoral Democratic machine grinds out millions of illegal votes to defraud the nation in the next presidential election. There is no doubt in my mind this will take place and we will see hundreds of districts with 120% or higher voter turnout.

Yes but if you do not have it, you can still vote.
Yep. But they can throw it out after the fact. That happened to me in this past election. DPS lost my voter registration (still managed to update my drivers license). So I filled out a provisional ballot under the supervision of the poll judge (who knew it was valid because he lives next door). It went in to the county clerk, and their review board apparently determined it was invalid because they couldn't find previous registration information. I could have shown them the previous voter registration card if they'd asked.
