I've got 3 of the Boker Kalashnikov auto openers. One is the magnum model. Not bad knives at all. But my EDC knife is a Kershaw Ken Onion Blur. I don't have to worry about accidentally hitting the button while it's in my pocket. With it's spring assisted opening, the Blur is much quicker to deploy for me. The Kalashnikov buttons are flush with the handle and difficult for me to index on by feel.

Had one early on and it worked fine. Not big into Autos. Info have a Hogue Auto and if I could find the Kershaw Launch 5 for a good deal, I might get one.

I bought one for $150 about 20 years ago because it was a “switchblade”. Since they were illegal I didn’t carry it. I kept it in the safe and coon fingered it every now and then. Within a year or so the rubber grip inserts fell off and the cheap spring made the blade as limp as a gay boy in a whore house.

Needless to say, I have nothing good to say about them. But everyone seems to swear by the AK’s.

^this. However my Kershaw currently has a lame/broken torsion bar (spring).

Liked and carried one for a while. Started carrying a flipper type when I had to travel through non auto knife friendly territories and ended up giving the two I had to a brother and his wife. I think I've still got one of the baby Kalasnikov knifes around, somewhere.

Okay. Mine did not hold an edge as well as I would have liked.

Switched to a Kershaw flipper, actually cost a little less (on sale) and holds an edge noticeably better.

To me, an auto-knife is a novelty. I can open any of my Benchmades one handed about as fast as I can open an auto knife , and don’t have to worry about it opening in my pocket.

Fortunately, all of my Benchmades were bought pre-owned and before Benchmade crapped in their own bed.

I've been carrying a Boker since they became legal - I've never had it open in my pocket, and I've come to appreciate being able to open it w/a push of a button instead of having to flick it. Comes down to personal preference - but "safety" has NOT been a concern to me.

Been looking for a Kershaw Launch 5 for under $100 but can not find one. Also discontinued so that does not help. It is the only Kershaw I like.

Well I ordered the blue handle one today. Figured it wasn't gonna get much cheaper being discontinued. I have about 50 folders but none with blue handles.
