Tried Helsburg BBQ outside Waco. It's on Hwy 6 just West of the Twin Bridges.

Pretty good Q. They have beef ribs that have a nice bark. Brisket was good. Basil pesto injected turkey was different but god. I've heard some rage on the sausage, but I didn't care fir it.

The beans are really good. The potato salad tastes great, but is too chunky for my liking.

Ted Nugent was there when we stopped there. Nice guy. He stopped and said hello. We talked exotics for a minute.
Helberg had decent brisket, but I did not think the ribs rated any better than average.

Had the opportunity to make it by City Market in Luling. The ribs there are still the best. Strong, smoky flavor. Tender.

I’ve only had their sausage someone brought me many years back. I liked that greasy goodness.

The Market in Giddings was a real treat many years ago. That place looked rich in history.

For those in the Frisco area, I found a new place today.

Tender BBQ is on Preston, just N of Academy. They are in the old 3 Stacks building by Hooters.

BBQ was good, sides were good, prices about like all the rest. BBQ beans were fantastic, and different than others I have had.

Planning to try the "El Jefe" sandwich: brisket, sausage and a rib on top, with beans.

3 Stacks was some good BBQ. I just didn't go there that often.

The BBQ Shack in Yoakum, TX. Henry is getting dam good at what he does! He smoked a Turkey for me for Thanksgiving and my family fought over the leftovers!

Railroad Bar-B-Que in Dripping Springs. Anyone tried it. Opinions.
The wife and I will be in the neighborhood and I'm looking for a place for lunch.

We weren't looking for BBQ per se, just a decent place for lunch in Dripping Springs and the only things I saw on Google Maps was the BBQ place and a Subway. I wasn't interested in Subway so I asked about Railroad BBQ.

So we went there today and gave it a try. It wasn't bad. We each got a Two meat plate. I got sausage and brisket. Sausage was good. The brisket was very lean with good flavor but a bit on the dry side. My wife had brisket and turkey and said both were similar to Rudy's.

The plate came with two sides and the portions were good size. Neither of us could finish it. not bad for $12.50.

Hit Cooper's in Mason today, quite pricey (they claim their supply costs went up) but damn good BBQ! My son and I both had the brisket, potato salad and creamed corn. All were extremely tasty without fanfare (i.e. straightforward without having to "spice" things up to be different). Ate the remaining brisket this evening.

Don't know what they dip their meats in but it negates any need for sauce. It had a slightly tangy taste to it, but it complimented the brisket nicely and kept it very moist and tender.

I just wish it wasn't so far away (100+ miles)! Was in the area doing some "overlanding" in the Jeep with friends.

Tried out a new place, 3rd Coast Bar-B-Q in Oak Ridge (just north of Spring). This place may be new, but it rivals local favorites Corkscrew and Tejas. Brisket (moist) was tender, had a peppery bark with no need for sauce. Ribs were literally fall off the bone with a spicy smokey flavor. The sides we had were the pinto beans, just the right amount of heat and brisket mixed in, along with the creamy and cheesy mac and cheese. The only downside was the sausage, which had been ground with what tasted like American cheese and a lot of it. Wasn't bad but not up to the standards of the rest of the meal. Although we didn’t order any, they had some good looking boiled crawfish available as well. I'd give the place a 9 outa 10 and a return visit for more.

You're talking about Oak Ridge North (Montgomery County) and not Oak Ridge (in Kaufman County) I was excited to hear about a new place near me but the Spring location threw me off till I had a chance to google it.

Meat prices have gone through the roof - paid $6.89/lb for a 21-lb piece of shoulder clod today.

Yes, I saw an article last week where a BBQ joint stopped serving brisket. His price tripled and he cannot afford to pass along the cost. Was at the grocery store Friday morning. They had steaks on sale but no place to put them, ground beef was only available in chubs but they had a ton of overpriced brisket.

Enjoy your brisket! I'll skip paying $75+ for one at this time.

I hear you on the briskets. They went stupid crazy on the prices. Top cuts of steak are much cheaper.

But, I got two briskets just the other day, My brother had one of last year's bulls butchered about a week or so ago, and brought me a huge box of beef the other day. I got ground beef, steaks, roasts, and briskets in the freezer now.

I'm fixing to smoke one of those briskets here pretty soon for a family and friends get together.
