I'm looking to buy a replacement for the 1944 M1 Carbine that was stolen from my dad a few years before he died. Anyone have any idea what a good price is for a USGI M1 Carbine in good (shootable) condition? Dad's was a GM Saginaw, but I'm looking at just about any wartime manufacturer. I'm seeing them sell on Gunbroker for $1100 - $1400.

Got no interest in postwar civilian market carbines, though.

Have you checked out the CMP, Civilian Marksman Program? They were selling all the mil surplus stock.

CMP hasn't had them for awhile now. For a decent USGI you're looking at $800 minimum. Keep an eye on Gunboards website they'll pop occasionally in the $9xx range.

    Gunz are icky.
    Too many variables.
You need to decide what you're after and price that exact model.
A mixmaster will sell for less than a 100% example.
Expect $1000+ for a good example.

Well, I won an auction yesterday for a Standard Products produced M1 carbine. I'll post pics once I take possession.
So what was the price? I have 2 Auto Ordnance and despite being commercial, they have run fine. Pretty sure all parts interchange

I lucked out - I won it for $805. I'm hoping it's in the shape the listing claims.

As for the Auto Ordinance carbines, I've heard they're good but can have trouble with GI magazines for some reason. One of the reasons I wanted a GI carbine is because when my dad's was stolen the burglar missed the 30 round magazine...and now I'll have something to use it in.
