I'm not saying it is cool what's happening to the people but it's such a powerful image.

A few years back we were on my buddies boat, about five miles below Bonneville dam on the Columbia river. We were fishing the shad run. We watched one bald eagle come down and snatch a shad out of the water. He started towards the island where they nest and another bald eagle comes in and tries to take the shad away. The both battled over that shad till they hit the river. We though we were going to have to rescue them but they both made it to shore.

The "shad" are American shad and run 1-4 lbs. Poor mans tarpon. They fight like demons. We're also fishing in a 5-6 knot current and they use that to their advantage. Some of the most "active" fishing I've ever done. You can easily catch 30-60 an hour.
