    Friends,

I'm in San Antonio & am seeking a "shooter grade" Model 64 S&W Revolver, with the tapered barrel, in .38SPL, to be part of the "onboard equipment" for our saltwater-fishing boat.
(While salt-spray can/will corrode stainless steel, it damages a stainless revolver at a far slower rate than blued, "parkerized" or nickel-plated steel.)

PM me, with your price, if you have a suitable "using" Model 64 for sale. - CASH WAITING.

    yours, satx

    Go Pappy,

The Model 64 that he is selling is at least 150.oo MORE than its actual "fair market value". = These S&W revolvers are NEITHER "rare" NOR "collector's items" & were the most "Plain Jane" & least expensive stainless .38SPL revolver that S&W made. = When new, the MSRP was $110.oo, btw.
(The reason that I'm seeking one for the boat's onboard equipment is being simple mechanically, reasonably INEXPENSIVE & "relatively long lasting" in a saltwater environment. = NO handgun will last forever in a place with salt always in the air but SS handguns will last much longer than other choices)

    yours, satx

Fair enough. You must be finding no-dash S&W revolvers cheaper than I am.

When you find one for $300, I hope they have two of them. If they do, I’m in for the second one.

    SQLGeek; All,

For some strange reason or other I cannot PM you BUT Classic Firearms has a whole flock of BLUE S&W Model 10-6 revolvers for 219.95 right now.
(Carried much but shot little. = The agency that the Model 10s came from allows 24 rounds PER YEAR to each police officer.)

what agency did they come from?

OP, the model 65 is nearly the same but chambered for the 357 mag.

    spcwolf,

Actually, the Model 65 is MUCH stronger than ANY Model 10/13/64 & it has a heavy barrel, too.

The Model 65 was actually DESIGNED for LONG-TERM Midwestern Highway Patrol use by State Troopers.
(BOTH the OK HP & the KS State Police CLAIM that the Model 65 was designed FOR their agency. = I don't know which, if either, claim is correct.)

Having owned/carried an EARLY Model 65 for duty use, when I was "pinned to a badge", I liked mine very much.
(My nephew wanted it & asked me so many times to let him have it that I finally gave it to him for his 21st Christmas.)

Note: I tend to SPOIL my niece & nephew shamelessly.
(My niece Tara borrowed my VERY EARLY Model 760 Remington in .244 REM so many times/so often that I finally just gave it to her. - I suggest that NOBODY stand out at 200M+ & let Tara shoot at you, as you will soon resemble a Swiss cheese.)

Thanks for the info. I am very familiar with the model 65. I worked for Tdcj for 6 years, we carried and qualified with that. It’s an ok gun, aging, but could be serviced and brought back to life.

    I would still recommend the 65 if he can’t find a 64, it’s a suitable replacement.

Also buying a model 10 for cheap right now, 2 of them for when the first fails due to rust. You could buy one of the blued models and give it a new finish, like a duracoat or something. Or just spray rem-oil on it weekly.
