So I have these 2 safe queens that I've never shot. There is something else that has caught my eye and these 2 rifles may go up for sale. The first one is a Arsenal Bulgarian milled SLR 100 Interac and a Norinco Mak 90 Sporter Interac. I would say each rifle is 90-95%. Also if you only had to sell one which one would it be and why? Also I'm assuming the butt stock on the Norinco is aftermarket. Is there a site I can go and order a stock one?

The value of upper-end AKs like those have climbed considerably over the past few years, almost to the point where it is tough to price them. Given how the market has been flooded with lower-end domestic rifles, more people are buying those; but the days of the $299 WASR-10 are long gone.

That said, I suspect that milled Bulgarian has to be around $1000-1100 range and the stamped Mak 90 around $700-800, maybe a little more. That is just about what I would expect to pay for them if I was in the market.

If I had to choose between them, I would most definitely go with the Bulgarian. For one, milled AKs are better in my opinion but obviously heavier. Milled rifles have always been in greater demand.

As for that butt pad, which I've never seen before (and I hope I never do!), finding a replacement should be relatively easy. Don't replace the entire stock, just that fugly butt pad.

I think the Arsenal Sam7R series starts about $1400 new (I have one) and I like the furniture on yours better ( I think mechanically they are the same ). I might ask a little more than $1100 but as in all sales the deal is only what the buyer is willing to pay. How could you have never shot these guns? Beto frighten you?

On another note, just got a Norinco SKS and that is fun to shoot.

Has the market for these slowed? I've been monitoring the AK and SKS market since I'd like to sell a Mak90 plus a SKS that have become safe queens. But the sales for these seems to have slowed compared to a year ago. But maybe it just gun sales in general. What your thoughts?

AK prices eventually topped out, and the Mak 90 has never been a high-end AK unless it's the milled version, so that in combination that a lot of new AKs are hitting the market has slowed down the prices as you've seen.

Bulgarian milled AKs are pretty much at the top of the desirability list, and one with wood furniture like cajunautoxer has would be on the upper end of those. Norincos, while nicely built (I have a Sile AKM/47S below), have always suffered a inferiority complex to AKs built in Bulgaria or Russia. It might be because they are lighter, but even the Afghans weren't big fans of them. Maks suffered because most were neutered during the AWB, but unmolested or restored ones are nice rifles. Obviously the milled ones are much more desirable than the stamped receivers. I've had the opportunity to pick up pristine stamped Mak-90s for $400-500 not too long ago, but I wasn't interested. My Sile is the only Chinese AK I need!

Thanks for reply guys. I'm selling one of the rifles to a good buddy so I want to make sure he gets a fair price.
Does anyone know any part #58 will fit the Norinco?

As far as I can tell, it should; just make sure the screw holes roughly line up on your stock as they do on that plate...

Also, note it doesn't have the trap door for the cleaning kit. If yours does, and it should, you might want to keep looking for one that does.

Not sure about the Norinco, but I was recently checking prices on Arsenals. The cheapest I found was over $1400 and ranging above $2000. Of course those were mainly new or like new. The problem I was seeing is that they only import a limited number and as the numbers dwindle the prices go up. I'm not a collector, so I didn't see the value of buying something that is nearly double in price from when they originally sold.

Ugh, but if you can find a box of wooden matches you could jam as many of them in (with the heads removed, of course) and some wood glue, and that should hold the screws in.

I've also heard of people drilling out the holes and gluing in a hardwood dowel, then redrilling it.

You could use try a combination of glue and sawdust, let it dry then drill it.

Wall anchors or JB Weld might do the trick, but I'd try one the above options first.

Longer screws of the same width would help as well.

It won't look great, but it will be covered by that butt pad...

Neither rifle has the original furniture on it, both were imported as 'thumbhole' guns in the early-mid 1990s.
The grip on the MAK looks like it may be Chinese, the butt and fore end are not.
