I saw an AR upper chambered for 7.62X39. I’m pretty new to the AR, so I’m wondering if you could use a regular AR lower.

May have to grab that upper for my next AR. Just bought a lower parts kit and was trying to decide what to do with it. Are 6 AR’s too many? Or are seven not enough?

Ive got a cheap 7.62x39 bear creek complete upper on a areo lower. Had issues with failure to fires on steel ammo. Had to add a enhanced firing pin & wolf hammer spring. She works good now & is fun to shoot.

The 7.62x39 AR magazines have a more pronounced curve but yes, those uppers work really well. I use a standard AR lower.

Another rifle that does well in that caliber is the Ruger American bolt action rifle. The barrel is threaded if you choose to hang something on the end and the rifle is exceptionally accurate in 7.62x39!

Mine is all PSA except the stripped lower. Not had any problems with it. Not sure I've shot anything but steel cased ammo in it.

Ordered my upper and 2 mags from Bear Creek and ordered an enhanced firing pin and Wolf hammer spring from Black Rifle Arms. Also ordered 1,000 rounds of cheap commie ammo. I have the parts to build another lower so I’ll probably grab an Anderson lower this week and get r done!

I built this 7.62x39 around a Bear Creak DUAL charge upper. It’s side charge on the left and has a traditional rear charge.

    Luth-AR MB4 stock

    Primary Arms scope and mount.

Leapers UTG Recon Flex Bipod. I really like this. Each piece is separate and mounts to the Mlok or keymod holes on the handguard.

The most interesting part, the lower is an ATI Polymer. And looks and works great!!

    10 round C-Products magazine for 7.62x39.

The paint is Brownells FDE. (I painted it.)

Got my upper and 2 mags (ASC). I have a bunch of steel cased Wolf so I was gonna throw the upper on one of my lowers and go put some holes in paper tomorrow. I noticed the mags were a pain in the ass to load up and the springs felt terrible. So I put 5 rounds in one, and put it in a lower. Pulled the charging handle back to chamber a round and it wouldn’t feed one in. Thought maybe it was a bad magazine so I tried only loading 2 in and try to get it to cycle and it still wouldn’t. I think it’s the combination of cheap steel cased ammo and the mags. I figured I’d have trouble with light primer strikes but if I can’t get a round in the damn chamber I won’t have to worry about that!!!

Did you try dropping the bolt using the hold open as opposed to pulling the charging handle?

It may just need a bit more speed to rip them out. If that works it should loosen up with use.
