I was specifically instructed when I wen't to renew my TEXAS CDL. Must have BC or passport.

Renewed mine in July 2018 and needed nothing.
Current expires in 8/2024. Not going to fret over it.
Probably won't even remember who I am by then.

Birth certificate needed if one has SS card?
On my 3rd trip I took everything that I thought they might possibly want. I don't have a passport tho. I brought along my BC, DD214, SS card, Driver's license, proof of insurance, and a utility bill. They didn't actually want all that stuff, but I had it.

Like I mentioned before, the BC has to be a certified copy from the state, not the one the hospital may have issued. I had to go to Austin to get mine. Heck, I don't think I even needed a certified BC to join the military.

If you are wondering what a certified copy looks like:

Does yours have the added security stuff that will allow you to use it as ID when you fly? It's my impression that the push to get new licenses by Oct 2020 is based on that need.

Crap, thats 3 of his podcast's I have open right now.
What a great gig. I read an article that said the numbers were fuzzy but that a good estimate is that each podcast puts about $50K in his pocket. That's actually net, after-everything profit to him, personally. And he does at least a couple of podcasts each week.

Nice work if you can get it.

Yes, it has the star in *red? circle (*colorblind), which I understand is the symbol for Real ID compliant.

Jarhead buddy here in AR just got his renewed a month ago and had to have a BC and other stuff to get it ... has the same star.

Where would most of that money come from?

In 2017, had cataract surgery, went to DMV, and had the corrective lenses requirement removed from TDL.

At that time I did have my SSN in my wallet, and brought the DD214 with me to get the “Veteran” designation.

That’s likely why I wasn’t asked when I had to renew last year. At the time I had no idea WTH a RealID was, and it wasn’t mentioned.

I also still have the same TDL# I got at 14 in 1957, when I had to bring my BC to prove I was 14.
