The problem I have with many road cyclists is that they cry "We have just as much right to the road as a car!" Yet they don't abide by the rules of the road for a car. And they want special treatment.

Riding bikes on a two lane road with a 12" shoulder in a 60 mph zone is just plain stupid in my book. Just because you have the right do do something doesn't mean it is a smart thing to do.
They have more faith in the laws of man than the laws of physics.

They love to ride out on the country roads where I live. I don't mind for the most part, but there was this one particular group that used to take up the entire road (both directions) at a certain time every Saturday morning. They had folks pulling into the grass to let them pass and holding up all traffic in the other direction.

One day I decided to take the tractor and shredder and go mow a pasture on the other side of town about the time I expected them to come through. When they arrived, I made sure to lower the wings on the mower so I took up the entire road and decided I wasn't in a hurry. When they started waving at me I slowed down a bit more. When an oncoming car came, I raised one wing of the mower and moved over and let the car pass and then lowered the wing back down to take up the rest of the road. I got some fingers after that so I decided to stop and talk with them (while still blocking the road but I started the blades spinning before I stopped) I explained to them I really had nothing better to do, but would be happy to share the road with them if they would agree to share the road with everyone else. Somebody mouthed off I said, see you next saturday and got back in the tractor and started up again at about 5 mph. I haven't seen them since.

We still get bike riders, but they mostly stay to the side and move over as much as they can to allow cars to pass. We also have tractors going down the same roads that move at about the same speed as the bikes, so it's just part of life here.
