FtWPD threw him under the bus and then backed the bus over him. He is phucked.

IMHO he had no business being a LEO. IF he reacted the way he was trained the onus is on who taught him. Bad part is IF he followed training whoever taught him gets away and he faces the music. If that wasn't the way he was trained go back to my first sentence.

Have you seen more than what is shown in this thread?

I didn't watch anything in this thread. It was a YT channel that did a review of the shooting.

ETA: I went back to the original link. It looks like the same footage. I still don't claim to see anything I'd be willing to testify on.

I've seen the body cam footage. To my untrained eye, it looks like a ND. I really couldn't tell much from the video and I wasn't there, so...

seemed that could be it, but dept already went on record saying he fired at a perceived threat. Hard to walk that back to ND, given they have all post shooting cam video

Look, I'm pro-cop. What else do you expect them to say? I'd say that too if my butt was on the line. There's a lot of info we still don't have.

By definition an ND is a negligent act by the person in control of the firearm. Negligence = failure to use reasonable care, resulting in damage or injury to another.

When a government employee is performing their duties, it can be difficult to pierce the liability shield, which is why I mentioned easing the ability to do earlier.

Insurers can very quickly and effectively change behaviors through force of premiums. Unfortunately, many of the large cities are self-insured, so until the damages become punitive enough, there won’t be much change.
