    Wow Im tired.

That was a great event and I enjoyed it even more than the spring due to the impeccable weather that we had. Really perfect. I had a fantastic time and wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for participating and bringing it all together.
Todd (and crew) taking the lead was a good move, thanks for his diligence.
Dawico (and crew) taking care of the raffle which seemed kinda special this time for sure. (congrats to Karri)
EZ (and crew) for the chef duties and all who provided.

Thanks to all the guys who participated in project AFAR. Id say it was successful although I admit it had its moments:green: It needs some tuning and tweaking but its close to being a rifle!

    SPECIAL MENTION AFAR PROJECT.......

    Big thanks to EVERYONE!!!
Tons of hands-on help....thanks to toolpushers TxStetson, Dawico, EZ-E, EasyRider, Todd and many others.
Thanks to Jimmy for haulin me to the Sporting Goods when the Project went south.
EZ-E for the cool vise/table setup.
Thanks to my Dustin who donated his rifle at the end and we stripped parts off of it to try to fix the Project.
THANKS to everyone who DONATED! We had a wide array of parts and accessories.
I hope I havent missed anyone, big thanks goes out to EVERYONE!
    ============================================

Thanks to Moonpie for providing access to an extraordinary amount of hardware and he couldnt have been any more amicable about everyone shooting the crap outta them.

Lotsa folks bring hardware, ammo, food, and other resources, grateful to all.

Most of all, I thank you all for the support. At the last minute Chase decided not to go. I expected as much. He still has a slight case of PTSD and crowds are the trigger factor. Just doesnt do well in crowds, especially with firearms going off. Dustin, my oldest, came out and had the grandest time and everyone was so nice. Thanks.

One final point. As my oldest was introduced to everyone, they always said "are you the marine?" and I noticed this.
This fact alone that folks think about Chase enough to ask was noticed by me (and Dustin) and meant a whole lot to both of us. For that I thank you all.

Guys we still have a single shot AR
TXStestson adjusted the gas block before he gave it to me thinking that would work
I shot it just now and it's a full FTE

I swapped out the upper from my AR and the AFAR lower shot perfectly

I even put the AFAR gun back together and used my BCG and it did the same thing
    Any ideas ?

Well it's a balance of gas against the buffer to get the BCG moving right, so I'd probably try your BCG in the AFAR upper and see if it cycles. If not, you're gonna have to check out the gas block. If y'all had trouble with it, there's a chance it might not be indexed right and you're not getting enough gas.

So you have eliminated the FCG and the BCG as a problem. I would look at the gas block and the size of the hole. May be too small or blocked. Also check the gas tube for blockage.

We also eliminated the Buffer Group by installing a known unit.

EasyRider was right, its a gas problem.

Ive never seen a "clamp on" gas block....dont trust it.

    Didnt check...
    hole alignment
    cleanliness of barrel passage
    cleanliness of gas block passage
gas tube seal at the BCG (used BCG? dont know)

It has a new gas tube on it.

I would remove the gas block, draw some indexing lines on either side of the gas port (examine it while there, check for blockage), reinstall block using the index lines to assist alignment.

If malfunctioning continues, I would seriously consider an adjustable gas block. Although it’s rare, high round count barrels can have some gas port erosion, allowing an over-gassed condition to exist.

I would also run the AFAR BCG in a known good rifle if not done so already. This will help eliminate any questions around the functionality of the BCG.

Wait; something has changed if you’ve gone from failure to feed to failure to eject. Sounds like the gas block is adjustable. Usually start with fully open gas flow and reduce from there to get desired operation.

Let’s make sure the block is correctly aligned using the extended index mark method, if that doesn’t change the condition, then start reducing the gas flow.
