Well, I need to plug the home town...
Brett's hasn't been open all that long but he's put a ton of work (and I suspect money) into the effort.
My wife and I ate lunch there on Friday, and I was really pleased.
I got my standard fare of a brisket sandwich which was great and could have fed three. Had his jalapeno cream corn, which was outstanding.
My wife had ribs (good) and his brisket beans which she loved but were too warm for her. I made the sacrifice and finished them off for her.
If you're in our neighborhood, give them a try... Thursday through Sunday.

OK, found a new place today. Good Union BBQ in Plano. Its on the SW corner of 121 and the tollway. They also have a location in Richardson in the State Farm complex.

They have burnt ends! It was really tasty. $10 for a sandwich, but it was really good. Lots of options. Next time I plan to try the "Pork Mountain" sandwich: pulled pork, cole slaw, bacon, and something else.

Price is slightly higher than I usually pay. But those burnt ends were maybe the best I've had. They also have patio dining and a good beer selection. The guy that owns Bone Daddy's is part owner of this one. But this place does not provide the T&A portion of your meal. (as the father of 6 girls, I am more than ok with that)

Some of the best Q I've had in a while.

I'll have to try Good Union. I finally went to Tender Smokehouse in Frisco and probably won't go back. Okay brisket but everything else was dry and had little to no smoke flavor. Their pineapple coleslaw was good for a few bits but the sweetness was too much. Now they do have some good beans. Then their sliced pickles are bread and butter instead of dill! Really?

Headed back to Good Union today. Got a hankering for some burnt ends.

Tried the new place in Waco, Guess BBQ.

Ribs were pretty good. Brisket was really heavy with fat. Smoked turkey no better than what you can buy in the grocery store. Beans tasted like Ranch Style beans out of the can. Did have an interesting corn dish.

If you want ribs and can't wait until you can go to City Market, these would hold you over. Can't really recommend anything else at this place.

Buddy lives near Helbergs, right outside Waco. He said they have some great stuff. Sent me a pic of smoked beef cheeks, made into corned beef. Looks great.

Its on Hwy 6 out past Speegleville.

Joe's BBQ in Alvin used to be good.

Last time (used to be regulars) we were there, it was just so-so, expensive and the serving staff acted like they were peeved to have to serve rather than to continue to gossip among themselves...management's fault for letting this happen.

Agree on the so-so rating. Haven't been there in some years.

Tried Helsburg BBQ outside Waco. It's on Hwy 6 just West of the Twin Bridges.

Pretty good Q. They have beef ribs that have a nice bark. Brisket was good. Basil pesto injected turkey was different but god. I've heard some rage on the sausage, but I didn't care fir it.

The beans are really good. The potato salad tastes great, but is too chunky for my liking.

Ted Nugent was there when we stopped there. Nice guy. He stopped and said hello. We talked exotics for a minute.

For those in the Frisco area, I found a new place today.

Tender BBQ is on Preston, just N of Academy. They are in the old 3 Stacks building by Hooters.

BBQ was good, sides were good, prices about like all the rest. BBQ beans were fantastic, and different than others I have had.

Planning to try the "El Jefe" sandwich: brisket, sausage and a rib on top, with beans.

Bringing bbq take-out home to celebrate Mrs Pronstar’s birthday tonight.

She wants Lockhart’s, it’s also one of my faves so I can’t wait
