Done both and more. Pretty standard dried crap. Dont hold a candle to Mountain House IMHO. I found some of the Wise crap to be inedible (unless you were dyin starvin) YMMV

Only drawback to Mountain House is significantly more in costs. I can catch bulk cans of Mountain House on sale at walmartonline and its a pretty good deal. Over time I have several Mountain House buckets.

Most of mine is Mountain House in the #10 large cans. Bought most of it 5 years ago from Beprepared.com and TheReadyStore.com and also some from Amazon. I haven't taste tested any of the main courses so I don't really have anything to compare it to. The freezed dried sliced apples and sliced strawberrys are decent tho. Man, that stuff has gotten even more expensive in the last 5 years.

I believe that if you do some Googling, you will find that the consensus is that Mountain House is better than most.

This right here^^. Wise foods I've tried are funky, Backpacker's Pantry was even better. Mountain House and then Augason Farms for me. I even prefer most MRE's over Wise foods and I have a few buckets left......yep extended family would get that stuff :D.

I've done both. I only have the shorter duration packs like the 72 hour kits. They're just oatmeal, pasta and rice and bean types. They're both fine for those non-meat type meals, literally survival and they both tasted fine to me. The Mountain House as people have said taste better. I have picked up the 72 hour kits from mypatriotsupply for $10. I bought 10 packs and I know I have a month of rations if needed and very portable. It was decent piece of mind for $100 shipped.

Decided to go ahead and get three buckets of Mountain House from Amazon......breakfast, essentials, and classic....30 servings each.....got $60 off the order. About $2.00 per serving. $120 cheaper than the MH website....cheaper than Wally World and Academy too.

So I will have a decent short term emergency supply now......at least for me.

Good choices. I have a few buckets of the essentials and of the classics (cause the lasagna is the best)

Play with em and taste a couple. Ya might have to get more later to replace em but its fun to enjoy them with the family.

Thanks.....I intend to taste test and decide what I want to buy more of......I just feel like I need to have some sort of emergency rations to go along with other preps. With a 30 year shelf life.......if it tastes pretty good......can't go wrong. Those buckets might last longer than me......lol

Also....the buckets seem the best way to go in terms of packaging (storability)......I think they will be more space efficient than #10 cans.
