It's been off and on for several tanks but I was wondering that myself. At any rate, I'm ready if it starts up again.

No one suggested tightening the gas cap yet? Is the internet broken?

You know, you might actually be on to something here.

This model doesn't have a gas cap, it's one of those capless fuel fillers. The last time this happened was right after filling up. I wonder if the mechanism didn't seal up well enough?

Next step is to try a different brand of gas and see if it returns. Knock on wood, nothing else happens.

Are you going to the same gas station? If so try a different one. Sometimes they get water in the tanks after a good rain.

To narrow it down best you need a scan tool that will give you a live power balance. The misfire counters on some pid lists are ok depending but power balance graph is better imo. You won't get a cel until it's a definitive and repetitive miss. Has to be x amount of times within a count cycle. I see more coil packs on mod motors than anything and especially on units with milage like yours.

Do you still even have to worry about this or is this not the car that just got totaled?

When the plugs were changed did they tighten everything down. It could just be mechanic error. Also it is cheaper to buy a full set of accel coils than have the coils tested by a mechanic. When the fuel pump was replaced did they change the fuel filter? Lastly might try some injector cleaner.

Just a follow-up on this, it stopped doing it after I commuted to work with it for a while.

We did have a new issue come up last night. We hit the road to get out of town for the weekend. After about 2 hours of driving, the check engine light came on.

Stopped at a local AutoZone and three codes had been thrown. Well actually one, P0150, three times. O2 sensor.

Ok we can deal with that when we get home. Light stayed on the rest of the trip to the hotel. Was on this morning when we drove to breakfast and after. Turned the truck on again this afternoon and the light is off.

    What in the world....

Does that proscribe replacing the sensor you think?

Do you think my initial issue I started this thread with might be related? I'm starting to question if it even was a misfire.

Possibly, possibly not. Best thing to do is pull the o2 sensor data with a scan tool. The PCM keeps metrics (Mode 5 on older'ish vehicles, now mode 6 with CAN bus) on the O2 sensors' performance. If you pull that data, it'll tell you things like how often it switches from rich to lean and back, how long the transition took, etc. By comparing the data between the two front sensors, you'll quickly see if one isn't responding the same. If you suspect something else may be the cause, you can swap the sensors between banks and see if your problem moves or you can obviously just change the sensor.

Here's a chart of what it reads: https://python-obd.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Responses/#monitors-mode-06-responses

And here's what a scan tool will usually do with the data:
