Hey guys, got a question. When ya'll buy a NEW firearm, does anyone one bother to register or fill out the warranty card with the manufacturer. S&W states that it won't diminish your warranty if you don't, it just seems like they are gathering a lot of personal and demographic information. Just curious.

yep if my gun has an internal problem I would like them to tell me before I blow a finger off. Although by the time they notify you. Most of us would have seen it weeks to years before on the internet lol

Nope. My new ones never actually make it home, with me having to cross the lake and all.

I have the same problem. Damn car always drives into the water

I try to stick to guns with large aftermarkets, 10/22's, beretta m9's, glocks, AR15's simply because any issues can be fixed by me, within reason

Of course i have other less common guns, but those are largely for fun

Always. I want them to know how to get in touch with me if a recall happens.

They already know who you are and where you live. Remember that pesky 4473?

They'll find you that way if there is an issue of some sort.

Bought a Remington 887 pretty early after release. Received a new plug for it in the mail since the supplied one didn't limit it to +2. No other contact besides that package. But yeah, they mailed it right to my house.

I have never filled out a warranty card.

Does the manufacturer have access to the 4473? Your dealer does but dealers come and dealers go while I like the assurance of making sure the manufacturer knows as well.

I think I've done the online warranty registration for everything I've purchased in the last 6 years. I might have missed one or two.

Dealers do not have access to the 4473, if I have read correctly.

And if they do, then I have none no harm by giving them name and address which they already have access to.

I have filled out the warranty card on exactly 1 firearm. Of course that was the one that got stolen during my move.

Can't say for sure. My new plug came right from Remington in my name though.

    They got my information somehow.
