After I started wearing hearing aids for awhile, my tinnitus went away, even when I am not wearing them.
I am not deaf, but I do wear hearing aids in both ears, and my tinnitus went away after I started wearing the aids, and now actually stays away even when the aids are not in. YMMV
I don't remember reading your Jan 7 post but it may have been lurking in my subconscious because I've been questioning a buddy a lot recently. He rides those nasty, loud Harleys (:p) and used to speak extremely loud, received HAs in the past year and now he complains that I talk too loud and says the T is gone when he wears them.

I have an initial appointment to get HAs this Thursday. Thanks for your input.

PS: I just stepped outside for a minute and hundreds, if not thousands, of water turkeys are flying South, many immediately over head at 75-100' AGL. I could hear their wings flapping. :)

I'm not allowed to post in here because it reminds others of their issue but, if I did, I'd ask if everyone has tinnitus on one level or another. So many comments of 'when it's dead quiet' or 'every few days' or 'once a month'.

I have it most days but I'm able to ignore it mostly if I have some other noise to drown it out with or focus on.

Constant, 24/7. I wear Resound BTE hearing aids and it hasn’t helped. The in the ear aids made it significantly worse.

I’ve had an eardrum rupture from gunfire in a confined space. At the time, earpro was an afterthought.

    Constant ... never stops.
Can ignore it much of the time.
Some medications, like aspirin, make it worse.

My hopes were elevated after some of the comments here and my discussions elsewhere!

After nearly 6mos of jumping through the proverbial hoop to obtain them, I was fitted with and wore home a pair of Resound LiNX Quattro aides last Wednesday. I've worn them the majority of my non-driving hours (I have used Surefire EP3s behind the wheel for more than 1 year) to no avail.

The controlling app offers several modes and multiple sub-modes, none of which offered any relief. Tinnitus blows!

Caffeine and alcohol seem to do the same for me. Unfortunately.
I have just been living with it. Sometimes it almost makes me crazy.
I had read some articles about audio tracks you listen to that "reprogram" your brain. Anyone have success with that?

If you haven't already, see post 46 here Baxter. I tried it years ago and it did not help. The link is still good so I may give it another shot.

Mine pushes me towards crazy at times too and while I don't necessarily relate caffeine or alcohol use to it, stress is a big factor for me. Unfortunately my work related stress has at least doubled in the past 16mo. :(

I've made it perfectly clear to all the people I've had to deal with that T is by far my major *hearing* issue. While the audiologist was doing the fitting and programming the aides with her PC, she said *I'm not going to turn on the tinnitus blocker because I want you to get used to the aides 1st.* WTF, woman !!!

A bit later during a sly & cunning move :green:, I asked her to turn on the blocker to see it helped, which she did ;). Even later walking me through using the phone app, she learned the T blocker could be controlled there.

My tinnitus went away after I got HAs, and has stayed away even when not wearing them.
You're so very fortunate, what Mfg. / model do you have?

I've had Resound Linx Quattros aides since 8/6 and they've given negligible positive results and that may be an optimistic viewpoint. :(

Tinnitus can develop from many illnesses. it is a journey to figure it out.

Some people are genetically unable to process toxins from mold , lyme etc and end up with brain inflamation. one of the symptoms of brain inflamation is Tinnitus.

quick and easy way to find if you are being affected by toxins is to take this visual contrast test. (free) vcstest.com

    p.s I am not a doctor.

Other than mine is getting worse and can't / shouldn't be ignored much longer, I know next to nothing about it.

I'm wondering what "treatment" other shooters are using to mitigate the problem.
    Huh? I can’t hear you.

OP is banned, but first two replies are online right now at 0354. Kinda comical considering the date of this thread.

I don't understand. People who get banned may have, prior to their ban, started useful threads. Those threads survive and continue to draw responses. As someone with severe tinnitus, I'm happy to see this thread occasionally float to the top again.

So what do you find comical? That's a serious question; I'm not trying to be snarky. I'm trying to understand how the forum is not working in the way it is expected to by you, a valued member.
