It’s all but certain that this will be the last-gen Camaro, and likely Mustang, that we’ll see. (Camaro supposedly dies in 2023; Ford is reportedly planning on riding the current Mustang platform until 2026).
I'd be interested in hearing your opinion about this. I heard the Camaro was going away again and not sure why. Mustang too? Decades old badges and seems they're all over the road - what gives?

    Thx

They probably don't want to sully the Mustang's or Camaro's legacy with a hybrid drivetrain. Let them go out with naturally aspirated V8s still an option.

I think people over estimate the public's desire for hybrid and EV appliances, tho. There is a market to fill there for sure, but many will just keep maintaining and trading "old" cars instead of spending money on new.

...or as you point out "they're all over the road". Maybe they are approaching market saturation and need to let them cool off for a few years to bring demand back up.

Hybrid wouldn't bother me on the performance end of the scale - some are the most powerful available. Potential version of the new C8 Vette as a recent example.

The aftermarket industry would take a hit as most of the Camaros and Mustangs get modified with fun parts.

What is going to take their place? Something fun, or fuddy?

Cars are a contracting segment, and coupes are no exception. The performance coupe segment is down another 15% this year.

    People want SUV’s.

Chevy already announced plans to kill the Camaro.

With Ford abandoning cars, there’s nothing there’s nothing to share development costs with the Mustang. So they’ll ride the current platform into the ground.

It’s doubtful sales of what will be an ancient platform will support running a dedicated assembly line to make the Mustang. Even at today’s rate of sales, a dedicated line to produce 60k units/year just doesn’t make financial sense.

Camaro plans have been announced. There is a 2-door sporty electrified coupe slated for 2025 timeframe, but it’s unknown if it will be a Camaro. GM says if it’s a Camaro, it will be a “re-imagined” car.
