Throw on a Vortex Diamondback scope and you'll be good to go. It's an inexpensive scope, but is by no means a cheap scope. You'd probably have to tack on an extra $150-$200 to find a truly better scope. I love mine. ;)

I saw that. My credit card is about to get dinged. Any suggestions for a good scope mount?

Well, dadgummit...I didn't get my rifle.

My local gun store in Waco put the order in correctly, but somehow the rifle just did not get shipped and the order was cancelled by the distributor. So, I've got a scope, a bipod, and a cheek rest with no rifle.

So, now I gotta figure out what to do next. I want to patronize my local gun shops to keep them in business, but I've not had good luck with online sales with the exception of Cabela's (their service has been awesome for me thus far, so I don't mind paying them a little extra).

Also, do you know how expensive Creedmoor ammo is?! I may try to go with something that fires less expensive ammo.

I just so happen to have a Ruger American Predator with 40 rounds through it. I'll sell you for $350.
I could meet you in College Station tonight. I even put resin in the stock with some steel rods to beef up the stock flex. If your interested shoot me a pm.

I've seen 200rd Hornady ammo box on ammoseek for $140ish plus shipping.

Yeah, that and I'm working this evening. Thanks for the offer, though. It's appreciated. I'm patient, the shop is investigating other distributors, so all is not lost.

On a side note being left handed. I think a right hand bolt gun is better for a left handed shooter, especially if the weapon is on a bipod or rest. Your left hand (trigger hand) never has to leave the reciever, and leaves the right hand free to throw the bolt. Just my .02

Yeah, I find it much easier being a lefty with bolt gun. I couldn't imagine having to take my trigger hand off the reciever to throw a left handed bolt, that would mess me up...lol.

If you reconsider the right hand option im pretty free this week after work to meet up.

Did you lose your/any money? If not, then no big deal: Just order another...

In 15+ years of online ordering, gunbroker, and lgs ordering, I've only had 3 mishaps. 1 was a fraudulent seller on gunbroker, and twice simple shipping errors. Out of well over 100 firearms transactions (maybe twice that many, not 100% sure) I think that's a pretty good ratio.

The key to inexpensive rifle ammo is to roll your own. ~$0.20-0.40 each, with the most expensive component being the approximately $8k in presses and tools :) But with a more restrained hand than I have, you can actually get into it for about $200... from there, the most expensive component is the projectile...

Reloading isn't for everyone, but over the years I've seen more than a few unenthusiastic reloaders find great enjoyment in it after they get into it a bit...

This has never been truer. I find reloading cathartic and Zen like. You can get super accurate rounds with a cheap Lee anniversary kit commonly found for under $150 bucks. You an get all components dies and powder to start reloading for under $300. So so worth it.

Nah. They're being good sports about it. They're offering to upgrade me to a Savage 110 with the scope at a small discount because of the mistake. It's a left-hand bolt-action, but it's chambered in .308 Winchester/7.62x51mm NATO. They literally have it on the shelf right now, I won't have to wait, so that's a plus.

    Thinking seriously about taking it.

If you're going to be using it under +-600-900 yards, no reason not to get the 308. Plus, commercial ammo is cheaper- marginally, sometimes/often- than some 6.5C ammo... although 6.5C ammo is getting more available and cheaper.

Some people do shoot 308 farther, but that's about where the 6.5 C overtakes it and really makes it worthwhile.

From what I understand, the Creedmoor uses the same charge energy as a .308, but it's distributed on to a much lighter round. Much less drop. Our range is thinking of putting in a 500 yard KDR and I hope to get good enough to compete in some matches. Milsurp rounds are ridiculous cheap, so I'd be able to get a lot more practice with the .308 for a lot less.
