Here was Cornyn's canned reply. Overall, I would say it is satisfactory.

Thank you for contacting me regarding the recent shooting in El Paso, Texas. I am glad to have the benefit of your views on this tragedy.

I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the recent attack in El Paso, and I believe all individuals who commit acts of terror or violence should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Politically motivated domestic terrorism has no place in American society. Like every Texan, I want to prevent violent crime. Preventing acts of mass violence begins with enforcing existing laws to prevent criminals, persons with mental illness, and other dangerous individuals from obtaining firearms. As a strong proponent of the Second Amendment, I believe it is essential to safeguard law-abiding citizens’ constitutional right to own and use firearms for lawful purposes. Restricting this right runs counter to the intent of our Founding Fathers, who expressly guaranteed that citizens would retain the right to keep and bear arms.

As a former Texas Supreme Court Justice and Attorney General, I have firsthand knowledge of crime-fighting policies that work. I believe Second Amendment rights should not be restricted because of the actions of criminals. Rather, we must focus our attention on the source of violent crime: dangerous individuals who use firearms to harm innocent Americans. I believe strictly enforcing the law and imposing tougher sentences on career criminals and violent offenders who use firearms will reduce violence more effectively than gun or equipment bans, which primarily serve to take firearms away from law-abiding citizens. Furthermore, lawmakers should work to reduce violence by enacting policies that increase treatment options for those who are dangerously mentally ill—a common factor in many acts of mass violence that have occurred in communities across the nation.

This is the debate we should be having—a debate focused on the root causes of mass violence, fully enforcing current law, and addressing improvements to mental health care in America. I will continue to push for effective solutions that protect communities while preserving our constitutional rights.

I appreciate the opportunity to represent Texas in the United States Senate. I hope you will continue to share your views with me regarding issues of importance to you. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

    Sincerely,
    JOHN CORNYN

    United States Senator

    He said nothing.....as usual!!!!
Obviously you did not read the response, rather you let your bias against an individual blind you.

I will go back and highlight some important phrases for you. These are solid and firm statements, and good positions. He moves the focus where it should be.

I assume that this was Cornyn's reply to your email to him. This thread is about the GOA action alert asking us to CALL our Senators.

Again, here is a link to the GOA action alert page.

Call, email. Don't see much difference in the method of contact. The important thing is to make contact.

Yes, it is important to contact them. But it is more effective when we email AND call them. That is why the GOA has put out 2 separate action alerts.

The GOA has put out another action alert. This time it is a letter to President Trump. Here is a link to the pre-written letter. If we flood him with emails it might do some good.

If you call your senator, you’re name is going on the fusion center hotlists of white “nationalist” Texans that need to be taken off the street because they want their race to have the same rights as other races and secure our borders with Mexico....

Unbelievable. I know so many people of various races that are in a state of disbelief over what’s occurring. I beleive most of this nations citizens are as well, despite media efforts to convince people otherwise.

Hispanic interests, black interest, various Asian interests, and others. Have organized, vocal non-profits to protect their rights and be heard.

Whites do it, they’ll be charged with a crime and demonized as racist and selfish. Wow.

Shits getting weirder by the day. I think I’ll start spending much more time at home with family. Some good books. Fishing, hunting season coming up and the expectation of a good waterfowl season. Time to turn the volume off and get back to living life without worry.
