While WE are on that topic, just who exactly is all this "We" you are talking about? I don't recall filling out any polls.
Given that I was posting on TGT, I was referring to active posters on TGT. If you read the board broadly (which is something I'm obliged to do, daily), you'll trip over an unending series of offhand comments from members about the latest way the NRA has screwed up.

I stand by my original statement that "We all know the NRA is screwing up lots of things." If you don't agree, you haven't been paying attention and may feel free to consider yourself as outside the group of us who, collectively, are aware of the shortcomings of that organization.
I've heard a pretty fair dose of what those leftist scum bags want and none of it is good for me...
It's always good to know what the enemy is thinking.
How many articles have you read?
From Mother Jones? No idea. More than I could possible remember. It's important to keep up on oppo research.
...Mike Spies is a commie scum bag and no one who is is his friend is any friend of mine.
Given that I didn't say anything positive about him or his point of view, sans context, I'm perplexed you felt the need to make that comment. Oh, well; if a gap in the flow of your thoughts is the most serious problem you have in life, you're in good shape.

As for the NRA, I'm a giant defender - a Golden Eagle. I'm a lifer in the SAF and TSRA. I'm a member of 3 or 4 other gun rights organizations. On the competition side, I'm a lifer for the GSSF and the IHMSA. I'm a member of two gun clubs I almost never visit just because I'm willing to pay money (including donations above my dues) to help other people have a place to shoot. I've coordinated shooting venues for Olympic shooting team qualifiers.

IOW - I'm dedicated to the cause, dedicated enough that I badly want the NRA to succeed. But it needs to be better in so many ways. It breaks my heart to survey the current condition of the organization.

Yes, the NRA needs major house cleaning, but what the hey, jump on the anti-NRA bandwagon cuz it's lotsa fun to bad mouth and seem so effortlessly superior........why not the NRA has never done anything to promote pro-gun efforts.......right?

I haven't advocated that but I can definitely see the point of the people, including some on TGT, who have. The problems of the NRA have become so deeply embedded in the structure that those problems can no longer be kept under wraps.

As I said previously, I'm a big supporter. I'm in favor of fixing the NRA. But it needs some sunshine in places it doesn't want. I hope that sunshine doesn't kill it.

    Ben,

I completely agree with: "As I said previously, I'm a big supporter. I'm in favor of fixing the NRA. But it needs some sunshine in places it doesn't want. I hope that sunshine doesn't kill it."

The biggest problem I see is when NRA members agree the NRA they love now needs major house cleaning, but the zealots still call us members who remain remain members, complacent or something other...yes, for fucks sake, we agree, house cleaning needs doing, but I ain't throwing out the good they've done nor do I wish them to disband...or are we expected to hang our heads in collective shame, if so guess what fu to them means? Not to you, but the frothing at the mouth zealots.......

What all do the anti-NRA zealots want?

Should we walk in shame while whipping ourselves with scourges with our heads down because we want the NRA to shape up or ship out?

    Not me......

If some now hate the NRA, ok, but don't even try to tell me I should be ashamed for my stance...does fu at them still work? Does for me......

I'm guessing the antis are loving this dissension among the ranks.....

    .

I believe most NRA members, myself included, want it to remain a strong voice and not go away. But, at the same time, we see a major need for change in the direction it was heading. Not only in what they were, and weren't supporting, but, in the corporate office as well.

I truly do try to support the NRA, but, when my voice, and the voices of millions of other members fall on deaf ears, well... Then you add in the monies being spent on frivolous stuff and exorbitant salaries that are being paid, in a non-profit organization? And well, there's yet another head shake.

Sorry, but, I really see no need or reason to blindly follow an organization like that.

Like I said, I truly do hope the NRA comes through this, and continues to do the good that it truly does do. But, the cancer within needs to be expelled so it can continue with that mission.

"Hey you're spending our money foolishly! Here's some more money!" Sorry, but I'm not that naive.

The organization is aware of the issues, they're choosing to ignore them. Perhaps they don't recognize the voices of us "little people" who send in the money, as if they are entitled to those dollars. It honestly feels like they've completely forgotten there are names, faces, and lives behind each of those donations they seek. Using fear mongering and scare tactics to separate people from their money, who does that sound like? Like taxes and politicians, which the NRA really seems to have aligned their practices with. I cannot in good faith fund their behavior, and the only thing I believe they'll understand is a marked shift in membership and financial support to other gun rights organizations.

I believe the NRA's problems aren't something that can be fixed keeping the same people in the positions they are in, it must be fixed by removing people who would do such things in the first place. What incentive do they have to fix it when they're the ones benefitting from their behavior? I'm only a very small fish in a very big pond when it comes to the NRA, so my very small voice is to simply and quietly not renew my membership.

Seen this coming.....does anyone think it will get traction?

In light of the revelations from the New Yorker investigative piece, Everytown has filed a complaint about the NRA's tax-exempt status with the IRS, and is calling for federal and state investigations into the NRA's operation as a tax-exempt organization.

"According to someone we’ve spoken to who’s in a position to know, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre met with influential board members and fund-raisers last night and was asked for his resignation. The meeting reportedly became heated and LaPierre stormed out. He then responded to the demand with a scathing letter to those involved, refusing to step down."

Is there any corroboration for this yet? Definitely interested to learn more.

Not the worst thing that can happen, for sure.

But, is it better to know the ******* your dealing with, or have to learn how to deal with a new *******?
That is true. I wont give them a cent either way until we have someone at the helm who isn't trying to take home millions of dollars.

GOA needs more members. My money is going over there for now
