    Coffee!
My nerves hit me today. I vend for the first time on the 30th this month and am pretty nervous. I also perform that day and am still trying to figure out what to do this moments I'm on stage and can't monitor my booth.

I have family who have been in that situation many times. Do you have:
    • a friend you can bring who can spend the day doing anything they wish but can also be trusted to cover the booth during a set time frame?
    • a fellow vendor next door you trust to cover the booth?
    • the option of temporarily closing the booth and the equipment needed to temporarily secure it?
Seriously, this is something vendors deal with all the time, even if it's just for bathroom breaks. There are many solutions and I'm sure you'll find one that works for you.

There will be several people I know participating, but none of us venders know where we're being put yet. I have one who would ve willing to do it, but we have to be assigned next to each other and we don't know that yet. Jeremy will be running video service so he can't, and the others I know are performers and really don't want to miss a show. I may have no choice with "locking up" but that will take a moment and the tine I need to unwind before I get out and dance for a crowd. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.

Check your contract for your table. Some organizers are pricks and will shut down/throw out a vendor who closes their booth during sales hours. It's rare and it depends on the culture of the gathering but I've seen it done.
    Wow
    Harsh!
    I'm looking at it now.

It's less harsh to know about the possibility and plan ahead than it is to get thrown out of a show.

The big factor is "the culture" that I mentioned before. For example, the HGCA shut down my table and threw me out of their show once. I hadn't broken any written rules but the culture of the place was that the man in charge of their shows at that time had a basic unwritten rule that he could throw out anyone he wanted. (Last name was Wilson, iirc, and he was the president of one of the Houston PD unions at the time. If anybody remembers him, clue me in; this was ~35 years ago.) He wanted me out so out I went.

No matter what your contract says, do you know the organizers well enough to discuss the problem with them beforehand? They might be jerks or they might be very helpful.

Here you can see the round in the chamber. Is the gun loaded? Easy to see.
