Gun control is a false narrative that says a law can stop murder and suicide with firearms. A law is an expected behavior norm for people in a society. A law can't make criminals and insane people adhere to the expected standards. It prevents nothing. This expected norm only sets a punishment for violating a law. Criminals and mentally ill folks do not care what the law is and will commit a crime or kill somebody. Same with a mentally ill person. They both have no fear of the law. The Police arrive at the scene after people have been killed. So the law did not prevent anything. When a politician tells you laws prevent crime they don't.

How do they even think up this crap? Surely he didn't go to a gun rental range, look around, and think "This looks dangerous. These people need a NICS check."

Yeah I saw that and laughed out loud. I also noted he was elected in Round Rock. So much for the theory that Austin (Travis County) was the liberal city in the metro area and the the other 4 counties were mostly conservative.

If passed, it would probably have the opposite effect of the bills intentions. It would turn into a great sales pitch for the ranges.

Well, you already passed the NICS, how about a layaway or our convienent credit program? The paperwork is already done for today after all.....

    Two thoughts on this:

    1. As far as I'm concerned, the term "common sense" is a red flag which indicates either a lazy mind or knowingly presenting a disingenuous argument. It's impossible for me to take anyone's argument seriously one that phrase gets thrown out...

    2. What would the impact be of all those additional NICS checks be on wait time across sales/rentals? My guess would be astronomical wait times for both (possibly enough to entirely kill off the rental offerings when lane scheduling considerations taken into account)...

Gun Control is not common Sense nor is it to prevent more deaths. States with strict gun laws have already shown that no amount of gun laws can prevent deaths. The ultimate purpose of gun control is to prevent anybody from having a gun and to take the ones you already have away from you. Slaves don't own firearms.

Maybe we could get President Trump to send a bunch of illegals to Austin and the Round Rock area. I think we might win back some of those seats in the state legislature.
