I am currently losing 10 lbs in 8 weeks or less and I am eating around 170 grams of carbs per day.
No reason to restrict one of your key macronutrients like that.

    Good for you.

Started gaining weight in my mid 40's, almost 80 lbs in the ten years. Lost those pounds doing just what you describe about ten years ago, but it didn't last.

Having gone that way once, and know how it worked for me, this Keto thing just feels right and much more like my natural tendencies, and easy to stick to.

Everyone is different ... then again, I'm convinced there's something to this concept of a diet partly based on your ancestral DNA.

    Keto update.....

So, after having started off like gangbusters on 1/20 and dropping 23lbs in a month, things slowed down as I knew they would and I set into a plateau that lasted about 10 days with weight going up 1 lb one day and down 1 lb the next in a up/down pattern. I stayed the course and did nothing until about the 9th day of this and then I broke my pattern and went to only one meal a day....coffee for breakfast then a strict meat/cheese/greens lunch with about 6 carbs and then no snacks in the evening; I also jumped to about 84 oz of water a day. With that, things turned around and I lost 1/2 lb a day for the next week and now, at Day 53, I am down to 204 for a total of 27 lbs in 53 days which still averages out to 1/2 lb a day. I am okay with the progress to date and hope that it will be a while before I see another plateau again and would be happy if I can drop another 10 lbs over the next 30 days. I am headed off to Los Angeles on a two week project so will have to deal with living and eating out of a hotel for that time but I plan on being extra vigilant about my eating while away from home. I will breathe a sigh of relief when (notice I do not say "if") I drop below 200 because, for me, that will be a major milestone.

When I return from California I am going to look for an aerobic machine of some sort so I can start some cardio exercise which I am hoping will help with the weight loss and maintain muscle tone.

I decided to cut down 12 lbs starting in Feb
I wanted to cut fat weight and minimize muscle loss which can happen if you are not careful.
I have been eating at BMR, the basic rate of calories my body burns if I just sit around. This is calories burned by your digestion, breathing and normal functions.
I am taking in calories at at level and making sure that 40-45% of those are protein and even with my knee being in a brace from surgery, I am going to the gym 3-4 days a week and doing upper body workouts.
By doing this, I am being in a caloric deficit of about 5000-5500 calories a week and giving me about 1.8 lbs per week loss.

A pound of body fat roughly equals 3500 calories, so even if you can do that, you can lose about 1 lb per week.

I am about 5 lbs away from being at my goal weight, then I will start working back up to about 2900-3000 calories a day and 5 day workouts.

One year ago, I weighed the same weight as I do today.
The difference is that , a year ago, my waist was size 40 and now it is size 36
So, that is the difference in fat vs lean mass composition.
At 6-6” tall, I would like to weigh about 235 and have about 12-14% body fat.

I was down to 240 about 3 weeks ago. But my busy time has me at my desk about 80 hrs a week. As of this morning I am back to 246. But I know when I am not on my butt so much, I can get under 240.

My problem is I like to eat. When I’m not hungry :(

Yeppers, I’ve seen a lot of folks lose weight successfully this way.

Me too. Part of my journey the last two years is taming that. Difficult.

My wife says SP fries are much better for you than regular. Something in SP's are good for you, fried or otherwise.

Haven't been hungry the entire time doing this keto thing, but do miss my bread fix.
Been gathering the stuff to rectify that ... almost there.

I need some suggestions for me & my buddies snack on for three days. Seeing as y'all are into weight loss I figure I might try something new. All three of us could use to loos weight the problem is we are food junkies.

What do you eat during the day?

Breakfast is bulletproof coffee, pork sausage and soft boiled eggs, or scrambled/cooked in coconut oil or butter.

Take at least 3 Tbs of MCT oil at various time before lunch, first two are in the BP coffee, along with a Tbs of butter. Once you get used to it you'll be surprised how much it cuts back on being hungry.

Here lately, haven't been hungry after the coffee, so push breakfast to almost noon.

Lunch, if I bother, is canned sardines or fish, with homemade guacamole and some full fat cheese. Never been much of a lunch eater.

Supper is a salad, with raw mushrooms, olives, sliced boiled egg, tomato and olives or dill pickles topped with creamy Caesar dressing; some type of meat or fish served with cauliflower mashed "potatoes" and asparagus or okra.

Like I said, I do miss bread ...

I eat similarly, but more than that.
    I'm still always hungry.

I'm not on the keto plan, but have to keep carbs down due to high blood sugar

Try drinking a glass of water when you feel hungry. Then go do something.

I realized I was not actually hungry but bored.
Filled the stomach with water and did something to take my mind off of it. It worked pretty good.
