Somewhere in this thread the is a quote from a press release or related news report that ID'd the called as the mother.

If the caller was the mother, her daughter was in fact inside the house. Not too hard to see the connection.

While I’m willing to give the benefit of doubt for now, I’d really like to see corroborating evidence this is true, given yesterday’s developments.

I’ve searched and have yet to see where the deceased’s mother has acknowledged she was the reporting party.

Yeah, nothing shows caring like a nice police raid

Some of you'll have a lot of free time, finding all these Memes. So when the mom called, she knew they were gonna run a raid (which now turns out to be completely FUBAR) and that her daughter would be killed? Are you psychic? It's pretty common for family members to turn others in especially after they have tried a lot of other options.
Hell, I told my mom not to bail my sister out when she was popped a second time for traffic warrants. I am obviously not a therapist but I think they call that tough love.

Yes, some call it "tough love".
What they fail to tell you is that it can just as easily backfire on you.

    And quite often does.

Sigh. Glad you are exposing who you are. Don’t stop.
Who am I? Just spit it out. Is what I posted untrue? Have you or BillFairbanks ever had a child with a drug problem? There are multiple ways to deal with it and parents usually try them all before dropping a dime on their kids. How was mom suppose to know the "case agent" would falsify the whole thing?

Honestly, I am surprised he would do that. I'd like to see the interview in what he hoped to gain by that. I mean it isn't like there is a shortage of dope houses in Houston. Obviously, HPD narcotics doesn't have a lot of supervisory oversight. Contrary to your TBL comment, I am all for crooked cops being prosecuted to the fullest extent because it makes the good ones trying to do their job a lot harder.

Yep, you are right. It also often works. If there was always a successful way to deal with a family member that is a drug addict, we would always use that way. We are human so there isn't.

I wouldn’t call the cops on my kid. The Police aren’t family therapists or drug counselors. They are officers of the Law. Any interaction with police can result in death or imprisonment. Prison’s not a drug treatment program.

If I have a kid with a drug problem I’ll seek help from counselors or therapists, not the cops.

    This.

I've never called 911 for any situation in which I was involved (unless you count keying a mic while on duty). I have called on behalf of strangers regarding incidents in which I was not involved and did not wish to become involved. If you need the cops, it's either too late to call, or you're too busy to call 911. If you have time for a phone conversation, you don't need the cops. I suppose one might call AFTER a "personally involved" incident to clean up the paperwork mess.

I don't have huge disagreements with you on any general principle but I have found the way you present yourself less than helpful in many cases. I understand that's mostly a question of personal style. As the old saying goes "If you want people to like you, you should become a fireman, not a cop." However, as long as you stick to...

...I'll be listening to you with an open mind.

I'll also be very interested in seeing your take on how this all progresses over the coming months. How far should blame be spread? If there's one crooked cop ultimately responsible for this, how much blame should be placed on the people overseeing him? On the people that worked beside him and may/should have known not everything was kosher?

What will those determinations say about the culture of this particular law enforcement agency and its component sub-organizations?

There's a hell of a lot to unpack here and it's going to take a long time.

PS for the long-timers here: There are times when TXI is sorely missed, aren't there?

    Where is TXI?
Search for his last post and read the thread. It was really heated. It looks to me like he got fed up and just rage-quit the forum. I could be completely wrong about that, of course, and if anyone knows him personally and has a more correct story to substitute for my almost-baseless hypothesis, I'd love to hear it.

I do know there was no ban but for whatever reason he's simply not visited TGT in over a year.
