I was just going off the end of post #53 and throwing my .02 on the subject of cheek kissers.

I must say... you won't find any or much in this bunch. We all seem too much like misfits, rebels or just down right real MEN to disrespect ourselves like that.

I was just telling my boss yesterday I'm not a "yes" guy...lol.

Years ago one of my employees quit with no notice. A year or so later, he came back looking to return. I politely declined. He left the team in a lurch when he walked out. I could not trust him, and neither did the team.

Yeah, but I quit because the company cheated us out of 20% of our paychecks. They had hired a new CEO and knew they did wrong.

As for giving notice. I always have in every other job I’ve left. I have read some articles from HR people who’ve made the point that it’s unfair to expect employees to give notice when employers don’t give notice of layoffs or firings.

Hopefully those are the HR people that are hiring.

Threatening employees with termination has become universal in American companies. Most workers knuckle under, lower their gaze and move away, whipped.

Threatening me will create the same response as waving a red flag in front of a bull! At that point, I have nothing to lose and I'll attack!

Push me...… I'll push back. There's no fear, here.

The incidents mentioned in my earlier post are just a few of the times that I stood my ground. I've NEVER lost a dispute with a company! If that makes me a pain in the asx, well that's just dandy!

I think the major change has been in the GUTS (or lack thereof), in the American worker. When a worker backs up, he loses. Stand your friggin' ground when you're right.

Certainly at my age I have that mindset, If I were in my twenties when my children were young it would be a much more difficult decision.

I've, in a small handful of cases over the years, left jobs when things went awry - but with a bit more tact than a raging bull. A couple examples:

Employer worked me like a dog. I was underage and needed the money, so they figured they had me over a barrel. They sort of did. It came time for a raise, but they refused. I was upset, knew I deserved the increase, but I kept my composure and simply began my work search. They were surprised when I tendered my resignation and tried to get me to reconsider, but I explained I had lost respect for them under the circumstances and felt it was best to leave. My boss pleaded and said she'd argue my case with the new GM, but I was done. Greener pastures and no ill will, but I will admit some resentment on this one.

Different employer, I made huge advances in capabilities and responsibilities. Pay came up, but not to the level it should have. I sat down with the owner and laid out my case and salary request, but he stated they didn't have the money to pay me. Again, I simply began quietly seeking a new position that offered what I wanted. I pretty quickly found one. When I tendered my resignation, they were shocked and very worried because they had nobody lined up and no idea how to even find someone. They quickly offered the money I asked for, but I explained the trust relationship - I took them on their word and accepted a new position. The "damn I f'd up" look was priceless. Long story short, I consulted for them for a couple years on weekends (at a much higher rate), then placed a friend in my old position when I moved out of state.

I've heard that people who are about to die are given opportunities to review their past. The scenario I imagined was in the moments before a wreck or other mishap. In my case, it hasn't been that way at all.

In the peace of retirement, I've reviewed events of my past that were lost over the passing of decades. In each case, I departed from the norm, stood my ground and risked everything to engage the fight. I did what was right for ME as a person, preserved my self respect, and served as an example for others.

Something must have gone right because I've never lost a conflict, never been fired, stood my ground and out maneuvered their positions at every turn.

In employment, when you're right, don't back down!

Alright op, I got some good stuff for you. Lol all happened today. Let me tell you about a real shit show.

I’m marking parts, I should say remarking. I’m looking at the program that isn’t right, so this raises a red flag. You see the general attitude from my boss was it’s somehow my work. Don’t even check the paperwork. Great problem solving skills right there. No need to find the root cause, just throw someone under the bus just cause. So I’m locating the original paperwork for the operator who part marked. Oh it was the guy before me and oh look at that, the engineer on shift also forged my signature for something. I was all hey, does this look like my 2,5,8, or initials? Sure looks like this other guys hand righting. Then in response my boss goes well I’m pretty sure you part marked in. I’m all oh you mean in August of 2018 where I didn’t even move to Texas yet?

Then I remark said parts, get the new paperwork after the fact, I look at the serial numbers on new paperwork and they are wrong. I get accused of being wrong. Me: ok, why were they baught off? It means they were verified and your giving me wrong information. So she checks and yup I’m right. I’m thinking wow, I’m glad I just didn’t trust your paperwork before I started and verified on my own.

Then being told to load up parts on a truck I marked. Oh you loaded the wrong ones, we meant the parts that got marked you didn’t touch. That someone else did. Me: you mother f’ers. Be clear about what you want. I don’t get paid to question my bosses but apparently they are useless.

This is my job op. Everyday. None of the departments communicate. No one takes accountability. No one is honest. Most of the department heads are worthless but throw us under the bus for their mistakes.

Po’s never get cut right. The people cutting po’s don’t have hands on experience and screw up part numbers and half the time I can’t even receive anything in because the P.O. is jacked up. But we’re the morons.

Our gm is the biggest butthole to top it all off. I have never met such a worthless guy. A guy that ignores paperwork hitting the floor with incorrect information, that accuses parts of not moving meanwhile not looking at what process they are in, and basically turning a blind eye to every bottle neck we have.

Op, if I can deal with this dumb shit, you can handle your job.

Oh and I almost forgot the best one yet. My boss played hooky from work one day. Doesn’t know I know though. Doesn’t know I seen the text.

I get legitimately sick as a dog two days. I get told i let em down cause I wasn’t there to help at a critical time. Cause their help the time I was sick, went off to do other things, and the boss didn’t have the guts to give those guys something to do and say hey, you’re job is this today.

Let that sink in. Lol for anyone who thinks their job sucks.

I would definitely be looking. Now is a great time to job shop.

Sometimes a little less money and a lot less headache is still an advancement.

This is one of the biggest reasons when we earn an account, we tend to keep it for decades. I work for an MRO products supplier and we do full VMI. We solve those headaches and keep your parts straight for you guys in the shop, and make it easy for the paper handlers in the office to know they're getting what they're paying for.

It’s annoying. They don’t pay attention to their part numbers vs ours, product description, unit of measurement ie pc/inches/whatever. Best of all when one is generated a lot tracker is turned off, meaning for traceability on raw material or hardware I can’t do anything. It’s literally 50 percent of the time or so it feels.

My interview last Thursday went really well. First one I’ve been to where when scheduling they asked what my availability was and didn’t just tell me when to come in. I should know today if they’re going to offer or not

I love my job. Flex schedule, true leaders at the helm and nice perks to include the take home Denali and free suite tickets to some things at the AAC.

Oh, I sometimes work a couple hours on a weekend or a weeknight. The horror!
