I have never held the Steyr pistols but I have always loved the look and the idea of the very low bore-axis. Have you every shot one, or is that your first? Steyr just announced a new updated version of this pistol at SHOT, released 2Q19. Any insight is appreciated.
I hadn't even held one until I picked this one up. I saw the new A2 announcement when I went to register for the rebate. They announced the same day my pistol got to my FFL.

About 15 years ago or so those Steyrs couldn’t be given away. They were going for as low as $200 ish at gun shows. I almost bought one, but just couldn’t get past how slick feeling the grips were in spite of how comfortable the gun felt in hand. My dumb ass didn’t think about doing a hack stippling job at the time. Live and learn I reckon.

Now the grip on the newer models look greatly improved. But I bet they go for considerably more than $200.

MSRP is $675 so probably about $600 if/when you can find one.

Just won a gunbroker bid on an M11/9. Despite the NFA processing branch being mostly closed, maybe I'll get to see it this year!

I just got this new Beretta 92FS in and paid only $450 for it.

I had to do a little upgrading though...

Installed G model conversion kit to have a decocker only.
Replaced 20# hammer spring with a 16# one.
Replaced plastic mag release with an all metal extended one.
Replaced plastic grips with metal Beretta Alumagrips.
Replaced the slot grip screws with hex ones.
Replaced trigger spring with a Wolff Trigger Conversion Unit.
Replaced the plastic trigger with a metal one.
Replaced the plastic recoil guide rod with a metal one.
Replaced the plastic lanyard loop plug with a metal one.

I now have a Beretta 92FS Deluxe Metal Edition. :green:

    Return of an old friend.

Sold this one to a member (and personal friend) when raising funds to start my company back up.

Guess he got tired of me hounding him about it so it is back home now.

I need to take advantage of this 0% "pawn" deal with some of my other guns now too so they can come back this clean.

Picked up this 1979 Series 70 MKIV .45 today.
Poor thing looked like it has spent the last 40 years in a dusty drawer.
    Some high spot wear.
Internals hardly worn at all. Even the collet barrel bushing is tight. The extractor was full of gunk.
Cleaned and lubed it up. Will go shoot it later.

Have you hugged your 1911 today?
