    I bought a S & W SD9VE
APEX makes a kit to improve the trigger. YouTube has the instructions for the swap and it looks fairly easy.
Nice piece for the price. Like Tex said, the Apex trigger is sweet and changes the geometry so the take-up is much shorter and reset is nice. Not a big deal to replace it if your comfortable with that kinda thing. Love mine (for what I have in it) Its my couch gun with a stack of mags. Mags go on sale regular for 10 bucks too.

If you like the "heavy" trigger then you only change the trigger, no springs. The weight on mine didnt change any for just a trigger swap.

    I bought a S & W SD9VE semi-auto 9mm budget gun while ...
    You're a glutton for punishment.

The only striker gun I've fired with a worse trigger is a CZ100. :D

There is some hope for the trigger on the Smith though.. lots of videos on reducing the trigger pull without light strike issues. It helps out, but certainly not a cure. For the money... with the stainless slide and poly frame... probably a good "utility" gun.

When the predecessor to the SD9, Sigma came out I bought one of the first ones. The trigger was nice and the gun felt great in the hand and it shot well.

I can’t remember why I sold it, it’s been over 20 years. I reckon I was shamed into it due to negative press and peer pressure.

I'm a fan of aftermarket triggers, I own a bunch of Geissles.

But, for an el cheapo the SD9VE is one I won't worry about the stiff trigger when working in the yard and having it on me, I 'want' a stiffer trigger.. It's like a Glock in that there's no manual safety and if I'm swinging an ax or sledge or what have you, I'll feel a bit better knowing it'll take more than a little to make it go boom!

As it is, my G19 with a light mounted on it, TLR 1, has a trigger pull with an aftermarket Glock 3..5lb connector. I wouldn't want to carry it doing yard work. It's a quite light trigger pull to make it go boom!

Oh yeah, I have a monster big yard so I'm always doing something in it, from pruning trees to mowing to on and on and on. I'm out in the country and more than once some questionable types made me aware that without a gun I'm fairly vulnerable as I'm also long in the tooth..

My brother has a gen 1 Sigma. We were comparing it to one of his Glocks.. no surprise they got sued, they are so similar I lost a bet that the Glock slide would fit on the Sigma fame.. LOL.

My father in law had one. One of the boys has it now. It was the first 45 I shot. Not sure of the year though.

CZ97BD. Came with metal guide rod, 2 extra barrel bushings, night sites, a kydex own holster and 300 rd of ammo. I already have one but it has a blue finish and wood grips. This newer version has been on my list since getting the original.

All this talk of 'metal' guide rods.

My G19's never had them and after thousands and thousands of rounds aren't necessary.
I agree. I haven't changed out any of my plastic guide rods. This one just happened to come with both from the person I bought it from.
