I'm thinking about getting a Kimber Custom II 2-tone in the next few days, maybe tomorrow if I feel like it. It's .45acp 7rnd. I'm trying to get a list for people that want to buy me present and I don't really know what I want, that's cheaper anyways. So I'm thinking ammo and magazines for said gun, as it only comes with one magazine.

But yeah, I'm not sure if I should only get 7rnds or get 8rnds. I also heard things about certain guns like other brands of magazines and I have no idea what those are. On midwayusa I found these magazines https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1305412096/kimber-magazine-1911-government-commander-45-acp I'm never sure if they actually are factory magazines or not, from midway. They're way cheaper then the ones on the kimber store. They don't seem to have the stamping in the pictures on midway. I would like to have at least one more mag, if I get this gun.

    Thanks,

I use either Wilson Combat or Chip McCormick mags in my Custom TLE. I use 7 round mags for EDC and 10 (and occasionally 8) for range drills. The only issues I've had is when I've gotten lots of dirt in the 8 & 10s. I pop the bottoms off, take out in the spring, swab out the inside and reassemble them. They're as good as new.

I favor the CMC mags as I like to keep my money at home in Texas if I can.

Wilsons. They are the only 8 rounder I have used that have never failed a single time in over 25 yrs of using them.
I don’t have a continuos 25 years with 1911’s, but I got my first one in the late 80’s, and have several now. I use Sig, Kimber, and Chip McCormick 8 rounders, and have several 7 rounders from Springfield and Colt that all work great with no issues ever. I have thrown away numerous mec-gar, para, and pro-mag, because if it fails me once, I have no need for it.

Wilson is probably the most often recommended 1911 mag but others out their are just as good. I have several Wilsons, quite a few Colts, Mecgars, Chips, checkmates .... most of the brands.

Colts have never failed and they have changed manufactuers several times. There is something about the way they spec them I guess.

I use some cheap eBay mags with my kimber 1911 TLE/TFS 9mm bought 5 of them going to buy 5 more. I haven’t had a single issue with them and shot at least a couple thousand rounds with them and plan to shoot another 1000+ rounds over Christmas break.
