whats the closest city to wildcat thicket?

City would be Bonham or McKinney. We're all country out here.

We've got some small towns in the thicket but I don't like to post those up because I've got haters. Not many here but the Internet has a hard on for conservative white guys who unapologetically spit the truth.

Many TGT guys and gals have been out to my place to shoot though.

PM me if you're really interested.

Fannin County, Texas. Bonham looks closest. In answer to last question.

Good luck to you on your search. Once I've gained some work experience, I'll most likely be trying, again, to get work in the O&G industry.

I called about a office job in O/G, I saw advertised in Midland/Odessa area a month or so ago. They told me that housing is so scarce that don't bother re locating unless I know someone that I could stay with for six months at least. The person kept emphasizing that there was a six month wait for housing. No idea if that is accurate or not though.

It is very accurate. I keep a travel trailer out there. Even finding spots to park those is a good six month process.

What are the big benefits in the O&G industry?

I see a couple of positives from the outside looking in but i also see lots of travel, long hours and really hard somewhat dangerous work.

Ive considered trying to get into it myself on the training/safety end of things.

VERY accurate. I have been out here, Midland, for about a year and a half, and just had a call from an rv park the other day saying they had an opening for me. So that six month thing is just a minimum. And even with all the construction going on here, most of the units are already pre-rented. But there are a few places that are open at a reasonable rent.

I plan on sleeping in my truck if needed not a bad plan till summertime. This far though I've been in the field the whole time so housing hasn't been an issue.

So what do people do for shelter if there is nothing to rent/buy, rv spaces are rare, and the extended stay hotels are booked? It seems by what you are saying that a lot of workers wait a long time for something more permanent. What do they do in the mean time?

I have some experience in oil and gas documents but is usually not enough for DFW and Houston law firms, however, some of the openings in Midland/Odessa will take less experience with education.

We live in a motor home full time and can tell you there are a lot of o & g guys in rv parks
If you dont mind me asking, what did your motor home run? what model? how many does it accomodate? what are your living expenses like? where do you normally park your rig?

Spoke with my friend's father who got a job out in Midland not too long ago. $1200 for a run down 700sqft apartment with a roommate, and apparently the price is set to jump $600 this coming year.

Yeah not a happy day here. They have split up our crews. Nobody knows who is staying on our bread and butter account and working out in Pecos staying in a mancamp. Now they are talking about wrkn and coming back to the yard every night. That would be fine if rent here wasn't insane or the price of a trailer payment and a RV slot was reasonable. Gonna start knocking on doors if things don't go well. North Dakota interests me.

A lot of the guys I've talked to have stayed with "friends" or "family" until they could find something. Some of the guys are staying in the bunkhouses, and some of them are driving waaaayy too far away from the job site until they do find something. Most of the bunkhouse guys are already employed with the company though. Actually 100% of them are, as far as I know.

Al lot of guys just try and "double up" when they can. As stated, there are rv parks with rv's for rent, and rv/mobile home parks with spaces for rent, you just need look into them and due your research, and make the phone calls or in person applications.

It can be rough to find a place out here but, it can be done.
