Article in todays' Express News - Gander Mountain is building a store in San Antonio over on the NW side, Hwy 151 by Westover Hills. If nothing else, another place to shop and watch for sales!

That's good. Have they broken ground yet? Any projected opening date?

I drive by there a couple times a week and as far as I can tell, they have not broken ground yet. There is a lot of building going on ruth there at this time so I may have missed it. I'm not a huge Gander Mtn. fan, but it will be a lot closer than Bass or Cabela's. Also, this indicates to me what's going on in this part of town-lots of growth. And the traffic reflects it!

At one time was there one at 281/1604 next to the Best Buy? I remember a sporting goods store there but it has been several years.

Hope it's better than the ones in Houston. Never been "impressed". Rather go to Cabelas and then Bass Pro.

Either way...we win. Even if you or I don't care for it, it IS another place to go. I don't much care for Bass Pro, but still go by once in a while. Kindly like havin' an ugly sister - she may be dumber'n a rock, but she IS fun ta make fun of!

this. The GM up in Spring used to be good for some great deals on clearance. Now it's a huge boutique range with everything on stupid low shelves. Not sure who their market is, maybe rich dwarfs. I don't need polished wood and glass, I need my shit reasonably priced and accessible.

Ganders ammo prices can be a bit asinine at times, but we have a lot of guns to choose from compared to academy lol, going up to fine $20K+ shotguns lol.

I guess San Antonio Sports is long gone. It was heaven compared to anything in Lubbock.

    Congratulations.

Their stuff runs around MSRP, but the one near my old office had a decent selection of used guns. We'd go about once a week to peruse the selection.

The used guns are awesome. Apparently we don't make a good margin on the guns and make most of the money off of the pro plans (warranty service). I don't know how that is so but hey.

Not complaining about another gun store ... just hoping it's better than the ones I've been in. While I'd rather have another Cabelas, per say, I'll gladly take ANY gun store that helps the gun community ... definitely better than putting up another Walmart.
