I dont think Perry is so bad. He's very pro 2A and has helped our cause. I'd love to see him do more and really be a 2A crusader type but he's not. He's a politician, what do you expect? He tries to please everybody. I dont really think the alternative is any better. Now getting decent candidates to run for offices like Governor and President, thats where the challenge lies. It seems like we have to vote for the lesser of 2 evils any more. I'm getting tired of it.

It's not that perry is "bad", but we could do better.

I believe Abbot would put more muscle behind his 2A support.

If ,god forbid, Cruz should somehow lose his senate seat I would love to see him as governor. Maybe he has a twin brother.....or 10.

Ok, sent a message to the Gov...

BUT, is it really worth getting our hopes up?

In September 2010, in response to the AK-47 incident at UT Austin:

"There are already guns on campus. All too often they are illegal," Republican Gov. Rick Perry said. "I want there to be legal guns on campus. I think it makes sense — and all of the data supports — that if law abiding, well-trained, backgrounded individuals have a weapon, then there will be less crime." (Texas debates concealed weapons on campus - US news - Life | NBC News)

YET, didn't campus carry just barely miss making it in 2011? Wasn't there also a special session in 2011? Couldn't Gov. Perry have added Campus Carry to the special session in 2011? Did he? Why not?!

Why should we expect anything different from him in 2013?

I'm all for trying, but have to wonder if he really is as pro 2A and Campus Carry as he claims to be...

Because as bad as it was, even back in 2011, the Dems were looking to get Obama re-elected, and hadn't gone as anti-2A wild as they've been since his worthless ass got re-elected. Anyone who was even remotely "on the fence" (like Perry kinda is) is now very aware of how critical it is to regain the rights we've lost.

If this were the case he would be pushing for full campus carry not a neutered version that really does very little other than a different version of the parking lot bill from last session. Also he would be pushing for ideally Constitutional carry or at least open carry.

You're right, of course. I know the chances are slim, but I'm keeping my hopes up.

I do not know how you do better than a Gov who signs every pro-gun bill on his desk, has a CHL, owns NFA and shoots regularly with Texas Gun makers.

These are the good times. Enjoy them. The Ann Richards era will eventually come back.

Call/email/fax Perry for the following to be called during the special session:

    1. Comprehensive campus-carry;
    2. Elimination of virtually all remaining off-limits areas for Texas concealed handgun licensees (HB3218)
    3. Prohibition on the use of unenforceable 30.06 signs by governmental entities and agencies (HB508)
    4. Open carry for CHL holders (HB700).

Maybe one that puts pro gun bills on the agenda for the special session because they were blocked by one guy in a committee despite having support.

Perry is better than many, but does have his faults. Any candidate will because we will not all agree on everything they do.
