mmmm ill trade you both my ranger bars and jelly for jalapeno cheese spread and that juice.

yeah right. No way. Cheese packs are hard to come by. You can have that jelly crap. Yuck. The jelly doesn't do justice to the cardboard crackers like cheese does. I'm fighting a war here. I need somewhat real food.

I like the eggs. Tabasco will hook them up. Also help cover the sulfur smell.

The one i HATED was the damn vegetarian dinner. WTH?

You couldn't trade it off to save your life. Not even to a real vegetarian.

Vegetarian food sucks bad enough already. But in an MRE? Why bother?

    A more friendly cozy army.

When your in the field. Cold, hungry, pissed off, and dog tired. All that dietary crap go's out the window. You didn't give a damn what you ate. As long as you could eat it.

Dirt in it? Who gave a damn...you were HUNGRY.

I've never been in the Army, but I've used MREs for hiking trips. Same applies: you're hungry as hell carrying a pack through the mountains. When I opened that pork rib MRE and saw the yellow congealed fat in there (I ate them cold - why wait for them to heat up?), I started salivating more than I think I ever have in my life.

Being used to a 2000ish calorie diet and jumping into 5000ish calorie days is quite a shock to the system. Under-eating can be a real problem. One thing I learned on that trip is when you're hiking all day long, you need to eat something whenever you stop to rest, otherwise you stay tired. Food = energy, and you gotta fuel up when the tank's empty.

You can have that omlete meal. F'k that! As for vegitarian ones the tortellini is the best of all of them.

Best MRE meal I ever had was pork rib, barbecue sauce and snack bread. McRib in the woods!

QFT, though I think my favorite was the spaghetti for some reason, seriously crush up the cheez its and pour em in then add the cheese, mix and enjoy. Sounds and looks gross as hell but was amazing in Afghanistan.

Nah, that actually sounds awesome. You've got high calories, protein, carbs, loadsa salt... Just what you want in that kind of environment.

I was always amused at the concept. You'll contribute directly to the deaths of other human beings our government decides are inconvenient, but it's wrong to kill animals for food? Eh, considering how much stupid shit I heard people say in the military I shouldn't be so surprised.
