    Yes, EXACKERLY !

    I recently watched a “review” in which 9mm & .30SC from S&W were compared.

First thing I noticed was that their overall dimensions were identical.

    What is the point ?

15-20% increase in capacity, thanks to the reduced diameter of the .30SC over 9x19. Like going from .40SW to 9mm, or .45ACP to 10mm / .40SW

If you wanted a smaller form factor (why would you, when that means harsher recoil) that won't happen unless you drop to something like a .32ACP, but at that point you could carry a bunch of sharp #2 pencils and John Wick them and probably be as well off. Maybe better.

A 100 grain bullet at 1000-1200 FPS is nothing to sneeze at, and on the heavier side a hot loaded 115 will still be in 9x19 territory, and be more effective than .380ACP which would still have lower capacity since its a .355 bullet like a 9mm.

The whole point was reduced recoil, higher capacity in the same guns people are already carrying. Micro guns might be great for hiding in a pocket but they're not great to shoot. Notice the trend in micros has steered toward macros? The 365 was revolutionary because it packed 11 rounds of 9x19 in a palmable pistol. The 365 X-Macro though is a Glock 19 on a diet that just got slimmer and shorter in the nose. Its still not nearly as pleasant to shoot as a G19 though, because the reduced weight and reduced grip thickness means that same energy has less mass and width to absorb and spread out the recoil impulse back to the shooter.

Same with the Hellcat - a 365 sized gun that hordes went out and bought - then flooded sites like Armslist and Texas Gun Trader, with people looking to up-size because micro guns suck for shooting. The Hellcat Pro is another more slender Glock 19 that suffers from short nose syndrome.

Even the Glock 48 - which is literally a Glock 19 that had a belly band and got skinny - sucks to shoot compared to a Glock 19 because of that thinner grip. The 1/8th or 1/4 of an inch difference in width of the gun makes a lot of difference in shootability, as does the few ounces more, while not making nearly as big a difference in concealment for most people. Those short-nose guns like the 365s, Hellcats, and G43's are harder to conceal in a typical waist holster for lack of keel, so much weight in the grip that wants to tip out over the belt with not enough muzzle to push the heavy grip back in - OWB or IWB it doesn't matter. Dropping the gun deeper compared to the belt line helps, but then you suffer from not getting as good a grip as quickly, and if carrying OWB you lose concealment of the muzzle doing that.

A lot of people are taking the round about way to coming back to a G19 size gun. At least the Shield EZ line has the similar size with the benefits of being easier to operate for weaker hands. A .30SC in a Shield EZ makes a lot of sense if you get reduced recoil in a gun that's easy for someone with less grip strength to operate, and giving them more capacity which may mean less likelihood of needing a reload if things go really bad.

Welcome everyone, thank you for joining us this most holy Wednesday, today i will read from the book of federal munitions, chapter 2, verse 7

"Lo he said, be warned, as thou hast seen, the 9mm people will lie and deceive you. They shalt keep you in darkness, and let you toil in ignorance of the blessings of brother Smith and brother Wesson."

"When the sun shalt rise after the third night, they, joined by the ever wise guidance of federal, shall lead those who have let .30 super carry into thine hearts into a new eden, and thoust shalt labor no more, but save for a prayer spoken for the damned, who have refused the blessing. Amen"
