Great cause and a great mission. They have a 100% rating.
Just one of the reasons I chose it.

While sitting in the waiting area of the "local" VA today, I saw a young couple with an almost newborn. And I kinda thought about that donation thing, it just made me smile. The baby was their second, and I'm sitting there thinking, "babies, puppies, and kittens" gets me to smiling regardless of my mood or surroundings. We need more smiles.

In WWI, the Red Cross would bring donuts to troops, sometimes all the way to the trenches. Then they charged them for the donut before handing it over.

My dad hated the Red Cross and told that story often. I don't know where he got it and I've always wondered if it was true.
A squad leader of mine was in Vietnam. When his father got ill, the Red Cross SOB demanded $50 from him to pass the message to his unit for processing. And I have heard similar stories from other GIs.

I think dialect is a pretty interesting. I grew up in Farragut, which is known to be an upscale area of West Knoxville. Go further west and you have "the country," Lenoir City, Sweetwater and the like. I had family in LC and they were very country talkers. I do remember a few saying "coke cola". And if they didn't believe what you said, they'd say 'it ain't done it'. But nobody beats the true Appalachians. Their dialect is the coolest I've ever heard.

I’m talking country. Hell, Lenoir City was the “ big city “.
