I have a pair of the LMF II ASEK that I bought for me and my son (I have a tendency to buy cool things in pairs, so I can try to convince my son to be cool too :D ). I can tell you that they are really hardcore. You can chop down some saplings and baton some firewood, or you can cut meat and vegetables, or you can punch through sheet metal... All the stuff you've seen claimed, the knife can do. My only complaint is the serrated blades. I'd rather not have that on there.

Can't believe I've gone my whole life without owning one, but I recently bought a Buck 119. Just the standard version. What a sweetheart! No beauty queen, but endearing in its simple sensibility.

    Hello,

Congrats on buying your Buck 119 Special knife!

I have two BUCK 119 Special knives.

I have other BUCK - Made in Idaho knives too. Several other brands too.

The BUCK and Ka-Bar - Made in New York brands are ones that I own 'more of'.

If you LOVE fixed blade knives and especially traditional FIXED BLADE KNIFE styles as I DO or own more of that style as I do - you will find that your BUCK 119 Special is one SWEET knife!

I have ONE 119 Special plain knife which I got first several years ago.

My husband came home with the second 119 Special knife which was the anniversary edition. Stamped on it.

BOTH of my 119 Special knife handles are the plain black ones and not a special order in another material.

They were bought several years ago as I said and both of them were bought locally here in our college town.

    Take care!

PS: I carry several knives when I travel, camp, etc. and especially when I walk with or without a cane anywhere including in the woods/wilderness and even when I sit on a log or 'chair' while my husband fly fishes around here or further away up north or around THE BOB MARSHALL WILDERNESS. You have to HIKE in there after you park as one example.

I have carried THIS larger Buck knife OR a Ka-Bar classic military knife on my leather belt MANY times too.

Even at our range even though there are guns in our hands!

I ALWAYS have a knife on me - fanny pack, purse, briefcase, INSIDE of a pocket, ON a belt, etc.

Most of the time, they are SMALLER fixed blade knives due to the SIZE and even in a fanny pack with different sections in it.

CCW type of a black leather fanny pack or another one for hiking/walking. ALL of the ones that I have owned have designated sections in them. I only have 2 of them now.

It depends on what I am carrying them IN around my YARD or elsewhere OUTSIDE.

I can carry or wear a fanny pack easily in the woods PLUS have something on my BELT and have a rifle on a sling or in my hand too.

    EXAMPLE:

The BUCK 113 RANGER SKINNER KNIFE (Fixed blade!) is one that is ALMOST always with me as in 99% of the time instead of another one.

Mine is older and has the WALNUT handle and not the ebony handle.

This knife looks like one of many knives that my late husband owned.

I kept some of his knives after he died back east and gifted some too.

This picture of a GERBER knife looks like the one that I gifted his best friend since 1953 when they first met. That friend and others got many items of his.

BOTH of them were Nam Veterans - different branches.

His best friend got drafted and my late husband enlisted - college break and working part time.

I personally never bought a Gerber knife for myself.

My Montana (MT) husband, as I call him online, has owned and may still own (?) some Gerber knives too.

I have not dug through his knife drawer lately! LOL

    Thanks for sharing!

    Take care!

Why? Fiskars (plural) was founded in 1649 and is the oldest business still operating in Finland and one of the oldest companies in the world. They are regularly regularly among Finland's most valued brands.

I own several of their products, to include their famous orange-handled scissors, and have always found them to be of the utmost quality.

Also, in 2017 Fiskars celebrated Finland's centenary by donating the historically valuable Dagmar park in Källviken to Metsähallitus for a hundred years. The nominal annual rent for the area of approximately 40 hectares (99 acres) is one euro. The area includes natural forests, natural sandy beaches, cliffs, sea, and the Dagmar fountain. On the initiative of Fiskars, the area became an official nature conservation area.

I don't get why being owned by a Finnish company who still allows the majority of their knives to be made in the USA would be a negative to anyone!

    I agree with you.

We have several FISKAR items in our home too.

(My late Mom's Mother was born in Finland and she had Finnish, Nordic, Swedish, etc. blood in her family heritage. She was a LEGAL immigrant too. Ellis Island, New York.)

Those OLD companies from the past and some are still IN business from specific countries around the world made very good knives, axes, etc. and some other quality household goods too.

My late Mom died right before I turned 19 years old of cancer - 1969.

The knives that BELONGED to her Finnish born Mom and my own Mom are still in use from what I gather.

Some were sent to my Mom's ONLY SIBLING = sister (Now dead.) who homesteaded in Alaska from NY around WW2 time with her Russian immigrant turned U.S. citizen husband who was a Merchant Marine Captain.

The knives from Finland that my Mom kept were given to my Dad. After he died, my older sister wanted most of the household STUFF and my older brother and I said, "No problem."

My older brother, my older sister and I have some other special items from our parents too.

I have a fixed blade fishing knife from Finland too. I can't think of the name right now but it was a gift from my husband to me.

    Take care!

My brother gave me a K-bar Navy pilot survival knife from his time on the Enterprise. One of my most prized possessions.

@Catherine1 as a knife connosour, You might like the line of Anza knives. They are hand made to order by using hardned steel files. They are truly a work of art. I just bought a couple recently for myself.

Check that site out, impressive stuff there.

    One of my favorites:

    I have two of these:
