Trimmed some 22 hornet brass today. I use the cheap Lee trimming devices you use on a drill. They work pretty well for the low volume I do. I already had the base and cutter attachment. Thanks to Amazon, got the shell holder and case length gauge in just a few days.

I had recently gotten some erratic results on the 22 hornet. I was using some brass that came with the gun. I was a little surprised when I measured the brass and found most was over the Max length.

Looking forward to running the 40 gr. bullets through the Chrony. Using AA-1680.

Yellow box of gold mixed with some varget and lapua brass makes for a decent night.

So...I ordered a new bullet mold from noe. Well, let's just say I thought I ordered "a" mold.
Actually ended up ordering 2 of the same mold. Ugh. So the second one is probably going to end up in the classifieds.
noe .513 dia. 452 gr. gascheck mold. New

A friend gave me 200 primed 308 brass for doing him a favor. Went to load it last night but found the necks all needed to be chamfered and deburred. Looks like he trimmed these things with a beaver or something. So I chamfered and deburred them all last night. Tonight I'm gonna load them up. They'll be fine for plinking rounds.

Powder coated my first bullets. Got the powder from Smoke4320 over at Cast Boolits. Used his method to cook it on. Surprised the shit out of myself.

Oh, no!! Now he's hooked! It took me a few tries to get the desired results... did the Goldilocks thing.... first too thick, then too thin, now I get them mostly just right...
    Lipstick bullets!

Mostly just right is sweet. Converting the lubra-sizer into a plasta-sizer. Got Pink Floyd shine on you crazy diamond blasting on ampzilla. Going to switch to the Allman Bros. when I squeeze them through.

Not exactly reloading ,but I did get some dies. So I bought a TC contender "package deal" a little over a year ago. I just recently tested some some 22 hornet loads and they are looking pretty good. My next barrel I want to work up a load on is the 7X30 Waters. But it didn't have a pistol scope, and they can be pretty hard to find these days.

So I came across a deal on a .256 Winchester Mag revolver with a scope. They made me a deal to take it all, pistol, ammo and dies. So I just picked up my 7X30 barrel with the scope installed and the rest of the package. I am curious if anyone on here has ever owned a .256. The box of factory loads say .256 Winchester Mag , but the dies just say .256 Winchester. From what I can tell from my online research , these are one and the same.

I probably won't mess with it for a while, but welcome any knowledge anyone might have on this caliber. From what I can tell , it was released in 1961 and intended to be used in both pistols and rifles. Ruger made a single shot pistol, but it was soon discontinued. I don't recall if they chambered a rifle in it.

Strange thing, is there are almost no markings on the pistol. We are guessing it was a custom modification on maybe a Blackhawk frame. There might be some markings on the barrel under the picatinny style rail. But there are no visible caliber stampings.

I will check more with an old gunsmith friend before I fire it. My priority for the coming months will be the 7x30.

Finally got to put some groups on paper at a decent distance. Usually, 100 yards is the furthest I’m able to shoot, but there is a range about 30 minutes north of me (Trinity Armory) that has steel out to 500, and has a rack to hang targets at the 300 yard mark. I put a couple targets up so I could test my 6.5 creedmoor hand loads (and my shooting) Both groups were similar, a horizontal line about 1 1/2” wide, with almost zero vertical. I don’t have any real experience with shooting in wind, so I’m guessing that accounts for the spread. Was pretty happy with an 1 1/2” group at 300, but I really need to get some work reading wind.

I don't know a lot about it, but I think it came out in the 70's. I remember guys at school talking about how "it had more power than the .44 mag".... I think they were reading paper ballistics, but even so, it's probably a pretty spicy little round.
I'm pretty sure it's the .357 mag case necked down to 25 caliber...so, brass shouldn't be an issue, if you can find the dies for it.

Yes, from what I read, .357 case necked down. From the reloading manual, it can push a 75 gr. V-max up to 2400 fps. It came with a set of dies, about 40 factory loads , and about 250 reloads. So I do have a pretty good supply of brass. I just have a lot of work to do with my contender calibers for now, so I might have to hide it away for a future project. lol.
