Stealth Arms Platypus 1911 that takes Glock mags. "Build A Bear" website lets you configure your own. Lead is two weeks. Intriguing. 9mm for now but 45acp in the works. Enjoy!

    Damned. . . .

    Now my eyes hurt !

There are a few makers that build around the Glock mag. idea. At least these guys give more options than most of the others I've seen or read about.

I have two major requirements for a carry pistol:

    1) It should be of a size & design which is comfortable to carry; so that it WILL BE THERE when needed.

    2) It must be of a reasonably reliable, proven model.

I learned lesson # 1 the hard way.

Good point....but, I think Beretta and CZ mags are better options.
92 mags are everywhere. I've seen thos big boxes the put pumpkin in full of them at auction sites and surplus stores. Although it's been a while.

Glock mags are pretty bullet proof.

I'll stick with M&P. I love 1911s but got rid of them when I went glock in the 90s.

Dumped my glocks about a second and a half after holding and shooting an m&p.

I still want a nice 1911 again but I would never carry a gun that operates differently than others I carry. That will get you killed. I love S&W steel autos too but don't carry them for the same reason. Safety, no safety, safety with decocker, safety goes up, safety goes down, frame mounted, slide mounted. Used to one or used to all doesn't matter. That extra second requierd if muscle memory dies the wrong thing cause you carried a 1911 today instead of your 645 will get you killed.

An M&P Mag based double stack 1911 would be interesting. M&P shares grip angle with the 1911, so reliable feeding from M&P mags is probably easier to obtain than feeding from Glock mags and their Ubermenche Austrian grip angle in an Apple Pie and Cousin Marrying American grip angle.

Beretta mags would be a good option, or CZ's - especially since both now have 18 round mags available that fit flush - if you can find 'em. It just feels warm & fuzzy with 19 rounds in my 92. At some point I'm going to get a bunch of +3 bases to throw on the stack of 15 round mags I have.
