Would OOOO steel wool finish up with the faint lettering? Just a thought - lots more expertise here in the advice you have already received. Looks pretty good to me.
That is the last thing I have done so far. I'm afraid if I go any further I'll get too deep into the finish. I think a light coat of oil finish might fix it. If you didn't know what to look for I don't think you would see it. maybe? We shall see.

That looks great to me, if anything you could try putting some of that Winchester stock stain over it as is and it might hide the faint lettering. At any rate that turned out nice.

Picked up the Walther PDP compact five incher yesterday, just finished adding new sights and weighted grip module from Lok Grips. First striker fired gun I've owned that's not an M&P. It fits my hand like a glove and I love the way it points. For me I feel the PDP has a bit of an edge over the M&P as an optic platform. The rifling is interesting, leave it to the Germans to engineer things differently.

I like big guns and I will not lie.

I was going to Cerakote the weighted grip module black until I saw the machine work. Way too nice to hide, photos don't do it justice. This gun is crazy light hence the solid brass grip module to add a little weight. I like a handgun to be a little more weighty than most people probably like.

Night fision suppressor height sights should give me 1/3 lower witness with a Trijicon SRO or RMR. I'm leaning toward the SRO, I'm not worried about how bulky this will all be I'm going to carry it concealed anyway. If you can carry a full size 1911 then you should have no problem with this. Not sure if I'll go with a light or not, once I decide it'll be riding in a 1791 leather holster as they make a version for both options.

    Size comparisons.

It's lighter than a 1911 even with the weighted grip module, length is the same.

About the same thickness as my current carry M&P 2.0 compact and only a little more than an inch longer. I have the Apex trigger on the M&P, I'd say the Walther has just a little take up for safety then it's on the wall, light crisp and audible break and a short audible reset, great feel too. The Apex has nearly zero take up, it lacks a bit of the feel the Walther has, both are fantastic triggers. I have no plans to alter the Walther trigger, I like it as is.

Went into a pawn shop today and stumbled on a SS Ruger SP101 .357 mag with 4.2” barrel, complete with case, manual, lock, everything that it comes with new. I stopped in just to look for mags and wasn’t planning a gun purchase so I didn't have enough cash on me. It’s not really close to my house, so I asked for a layaway plan so that I could come back next weekend and get it. He offered an extra $50 off of our agreed to price if I would wait until Feb 1st to pick it up. Score! He explained that the sale counts as two credits. One for the layaway, and another for the sale. Apparently layaway + sale in same months = credit for only the sale.

A Model 70 featherweight 270 Made In The USA by BACO Morgan Utah. I did as much research as I can and it's probably made in between 1989-2006 or there about. It could even be made anytime before 2013 when BACO shipped plants to Portugal. Anyway It's a beautiful rifle and shoots tru with the Burris Fulfield E1 3-9X40 scope. These 3 and 5 shot groups after I zero'd in the scope are at 100 yards with a 10 mph headwind.

A very nice firearm for my first rifle and it came with a sore shoulder LOL!

    .270 is a fantastic round, and can’t beat a Model 70! Congrats!

Thanks it's a kicker to the shoulder, but I'm hearing that it's a big game hunting round on the low end of elk, mule deer and such. I found out it was made in Columbia S.C. in 2012 from Winchester customer service on the web.

Very cool! Keep an “eye” on that scope. It’s a little far back and may punch you in your socket if you’re not careful.

    Just traded a scope I didn’t need for a maverick 88 shotgun. It’s the 18.5 barrel 5+1
    12 gauge model.
I now have 2 maverick 88 shotguns. I will be looking for the longer barrel for this one soon.
I picked up a mossberg 500 18.5 from crzy_one yesterday. Similar boat. Looks like it's almost as cheap to buy another maverick 88
