Let us know what you think. Some like it, some don't - it works for me, but I tend to be my own RO anyways...

I have 0 complaints about Dietz. Im glad that there wasnt anyone else that wanted to shoot past 10 yards on the pistol range. I can see that being a problem for some. If I wanted to shoot at 10 yards and someone was shooting further back, I wouldnt shoot at all.

Even though Bracken doesnt have the best rep on here, theyre still 5 minutes from me and havent wronged me personaly. I personaly dont mind the strict rules at Bracken because I feel "comfortable" there.

So I went to Bracken Range earlier this week to try out my new G26. After reading this thread, I kept my eyes peeled for the lady but I did not see her. The only staff I encountered was an older gentlemen in the mobile home thing. He was very friendly and set me up to shoot on the pistol target (which consisted of northing more than pointing to a bay). I was surprised that they did not take credit, I would have been in trouble if I did not have a few extra bucks in my pocket.

I will say, ill take this over the bullethole though.

Once again, some TGT members have "petty" issues with Bracken Range.

Everything you have to know about that range is prominently posted on site .

You may only take your own brass home. Those who choose to leave their brass at the range, relinquish that brass to the range. (Ranges sell re-loadable brass to help defray the cost of range operations).

They don't take credit cards or cash larger than $20.00.

How many times do we have to re-hash this crap?

It is a family-owned business that has the right to set their own rules.

Get a grip, folks. What would you do if YOU had to run a range?

Why piss in your canteen? Your bitching and moaning will only ruin a good bussines, and the government surely will not build us a new range.

    Be well.

    "Petty?"

Numerous people have complained about the management there harassing them for no reason. I don't consider that "petty," I consider that the perfect reason to find someplace else to spend my money to shoot!

I feel the same way about The Bullethole, it doesn't take more than a couple of bad experiences for me to never to return. While it's been a long time since I shot at Bracken, I've heard numerous stories from people whose opinions I trust. I don't think anyone on here is making this up, but if you feel it suits your needs that so be it; but calling other people's opinions "petty" because you disagree is just not right.

    Enjoy Bracken, I'll go elsewhere.

I fully support the position that a private range may make any rule they choose to, if you do not like it, do not go back. What I do have issue with is safety. I pretty much will not shoot on any public range on weekends. I have seen way to many bad things, even with a range officer present. At Bullethole I was talking to a range officer behind the pistol range. A young guy showing his GF his gun swept both of us with the muzzle, 6 feet away. The RO said NOTHING! It was fully in his view. I immediately left.

I had similar experiences at the Bullethole, and note I said experiences! That is why I refuse to go back, even desipte the fact that I've heard they've made improvements there. I will only shoot at ranges where I feel safe in doing so, and once a range is on my "black list," it's there to stay.

While we don't have a lot of choices in San Antonio, there are enough places to shoot to keep me from spending my money at ranges where they are not concerned with my safety!

It's not petty. I have a complaint about a place of business I complain with my wallet. That's what is going on here. It's fine and good to have rules; in my house, do as I say. However, when someone acts an ass enforcing those rules when a simple adult conversation would suffice,(I have seen this woman do this) I go elsewhere.

The OP had an issue there, told us about it and we are simply offering our experiences, both good and bad. Nothing petty about it.

One man's pettiness is another man's significant emotional event, I suppose. I've had no issues with Bracken, and will keep going there mainly because it's convenient. If I ever get yelled at, maybe I'll reassess.

You bet they can make and enforce any rule they want, I would if I owned a range, and do with my own company. However what you consider petty, others consider major. IF I had been asking for brass or simply taking others folks brass they had ever right to jump on me, but as the case was they could have had a CONVERSATION with me instead of being nasty about it. If she would have come over and been nice about what she had to say, I would never have made this post and I would still be shooting there instead of driving 25 miles to a different range.

It's not a petty issue to have someone get after you in an inordinately aggressive manner about an issue which itself is petty!
Picking up the wrong brass? C'mon!
The way she went off on him, you'd think he just spit in Jesus's face!

There's ways to deal with people who break rules at places. And it's typically scaled according to what rule is being violated!
Someone is unsafe and or sweeping everyone with their weapon? HELL YEAH! Get after that SOB with the wrath of god!
Someone appears to be picking up brass that's not his? Why not walk over and remind him that such a thing is not allowed, and if he does it again he'll be banned from the range. In a calm but firm voice!

Yes, you'll go to Camp Bullis with your "special entitlement" that most people don't have, but continue to slam Bracken when you have never written a personal report of that range, yet only repeat hearsay.

    What's up with that?

    Be well.

Well, I earned that "special entitlement" by serving nearly 25 years in uniform defending this nation. If you don't think that's worthy of being able to shoot there, than that's your own "special" opinion and one you're able to spout because of my service. You're welcome.

Secondly, I have been to Bracken and wasn't impressed with the way the management treated its customers. I didn't have a similar encounter as TD, but I have had several good friends who have and I don't doubt his or their word. It's not "hearsay," it's firsthand accounts from people I know well. You, on the other hand, are just some random person I have never met, so why would I take your opinion over people I trust?

I also have stated on numerous occasions my disregard for the Bullethole, yet I know a lot of people (many of whom who are on this forum) who shoot there regularly. Oddly enough, they don't chastise me for having a differing opinion of the place. I will not shoot there, and after hearing such antics by the management of Bracken, I won't be spending any of my hard-earned cash there either. You have every right to spend yours there, but don't go lecturing me about not writing a personal report on the range (what am I, a range critic for the Express-News?!?) or claiming I am repeating "hearsay." This isn't a court of law, this is a gun forum where people are allowed to express their opinions, and if I want to share comments of those I know are truthful, than that's might right. If you have any problems with it, feel free to add me to your 'ignore' list. As a matter of fact, I wish you would; because I just added you to mine...
