From what I know of Meta's policies right now (I still know people who work there), both of those guys would be reprimanded and warned to not wear that type of clothing into the office.

Even back when I was working there, wearing a "maga" hat wouldn't be an instant termination unless that employee was already on a PIP, or on probation. So that guy must've had a history already.
Nope. Told that racism has no place in FB’s workplace and let go.

The POC’s wearing BLM had no repercussions. I have no reason to doubt him.

I guess I got lucky. My routine is more like Gen. Zod, but I somehow became a Sr. Manager for one of the largest oil companies in the world. My wife advises that it was only because of my good looks and magnetic personality. There must be some truth to that, considering that she knows everything. I did, however, notice that our Executive management all seemed to have shiney faces. It was probably from weekly facials and sanding (or whatever they do in those man salons). Maybe I stunted my career by not getting worked over like a show dog. Even after a career as a regular bottomfeeder it worked out quite well.

Same happened to me. 15 or 16 years ago I was driving to work, running 91 mph on 111 between Yoakum and Edna. It was still dark out, maybe 5:30am. Ran up on a state trooper from behind. By the time I’d noticed, it was too late. It was my most expensive ticket ever. It was also my last ticket.
Good thing it was trooper and not a real pig, coulda been messy. My cousin used to live in Yoakum, my uncle, her dad, in Sweet Home.

But personal hygiene and grooming will take you places in your career, I swear by it. I would venture to say, if you're at any Fortune 500 type company, if you're in management, the difference between being some low-level supervisor, and a VP over say a division, can come down to image and hygiene.
This is true. It's how you I.D the useless. We had a manager like that at the DC. I don't know if he knew how to actually do anything.

That doesn't sound right at all, I heavily doubt it because I saw the actual HR e-mails that told employees not to wear politically charged clothing to work. It's even stricter now. There's no way someone would be able to wear a BLM hat and walk around the campus without being called out.

What business function team was your friend part of?

Male grooming is essential if you want to improve your image (which opens doors in other areas). Haircuts and beard trimming are the absolute minimum. I go to the Salon, get tea tree oil treatments, pedicures, and manicures. On top of that I also have different lotions at home for body and face (they aren't the same thing), and a supply of lactic acid face peel pads.

Do a little exercise (cardio and weight training), get a good cologne, and some nice clothes, you will look and feel like a new man.

I promise you, if you keep up the regimen for 6 months, you will look 10+ years younger and people will notice. :shades:
If you just eat enough bacon you will never need any of those creams or lotions. I want to look rough, keeps all of the gold diggers away.

I'm not saying it's necessary or even a "good thing", but it's just the reality if you want to get to the higher levels of management. Upper management and executives are really concerned about image. It's something you have to accept if you're working in that environment.

That being said, I've grown to appreciate pedicures.

Yeah image can be important professionally. It depends on what it is. I have worked in management and out in the field and in shops. It's more about know your audience. But that's my choice. Just like it is others to look amazing 24/7. CaliGunner is correct though. Upper management in most cares more about looks and saying the right things. It's an example of how America lost integrity. It's human nature. If you sat those people down in a room and explained the psychopathic traits they have, they would look at you like you like a deer in the headlights.

Here's an example of logic thrown out the window:

You run a business where you're struggling with accidents, despite your safety manager doing his/her job. You need to hire another supervisor. You know that more floor presence is needed.

You interview two guys. One is dressed very nice and is smiling at everything you say. Agrees with everything you say. No questions. Says all the right things. Guy two is dressed less nice but it's acceptable, has more hands on experience, has a concerned look on his face when we explain the safety issues.

Been down the road too many times of dealing with fancy bullshitters. Dressing over nice, ALSO, comes with an image people assume of you. AND, what must always happen in ending an interview, is a hardy MAN handshake.

All I know is I never saw any "chewed up finger nail" dudes get invited to the "management retreat". All expenses paid to Kauai for 5 nights. These people brought their kids, wives, some of them brought their "girlfriends" (escorts). Everyone looked like they were straight out of a fashion magazine.

Exactly. I don't agree with it personally, but it is the reality.

With my past boss...Not being invited to things was a blessing. I don't feel like listening to a narcissist on what should be my time off.

Must be an IT thing. In the ‘big’ financial services space, movement to executive management is based on the ability to get other people to make more people turn words into profits.

I shave the head, trim the beard when it gets blown into my eyes, driving with the windows down. I be doing real good if there aint egg yoke in my beard most days.

I'm morbidly obese so trimming the toe claws has become to much of a chore. I did buy some old man dry leg lotion, but for the most part aint into that kinda of shit, unless I had the right applicator women.

I can picture my fat ass semi reclining in a opium den bed with some scantily clothed big breasted asian chicks rubbing on my feet. While a couple more with some creamy white ass cheeks make me a Bahn Mi. Hell I don't even need the happy ending part any more. I sure aint letting none of them walk on my back.

I find every reason possible to beg off of any of the senior management get together s my company does ( I am a corporate safety manager)
I have told the folks with letters after their titles that there is a zero percent chance they will ever meet any member of my family through work related events as my home life and work life are completely separate.

Every year I take a month+ off to go hunting and let everyone know that my computer will not be turned on nor will my primary phone be with me during this time.

One person in the company has my back up phone number and will not call unless the world is ending.

I am that good at my job.

Reminds me of when I drove up to help my mother in law in Euless for something. I was leaving and this dude in his lifted chevy clean washed, nice rims, all street queened out, and he had this fancy hair style that was all wavy and shit but he otherwise was dressed kind of like a redneck...And it was one of those nods just because we both drove a chevy.

    My response while driving off:

Hoji, do you think at a company like Facebook/Meta or Google or Workday or Oracle, etc, people don't know how to do their jobs?

If you're working at a company like that, especially if you're in a senior position, you know what you're doing. In fact, these people are usually the Top 1% of their field, easily. You've been vetted far before you are in consideration for a management position. This all goes without saying. No one is going to be a dumb ass with an "oiled beard" and waltz into management, that's not how this works.
I have known lots in upper management that could look and talk the part but could not actually manage their way out of a wet paper sack. With instructions.
I would rather have doers than lookers any day. Most corporations I have worked for could dump at least half their management teams and not miss them.
