Today I received a cold call from the NRA asking for money. I respectfully listened to the gentleman’s pitch and told him I think he is doing a great job, but that I won’t give the NRA anymore money until WLP is gone. I asked him to send my comments up whatever chain he had access to with the emphasis that I respect what the NRA can do for us, I just can’t support them while he is a part of the organization.

Anybody else get any phone calls lately?

Last time I got a phone call was about 3-4 years ago, and thankfully they haven’t called back since.

I haven't received a call from them this year. Maybe they finally deleted my phone number.

Has anyone ever received the "gifts" they offerd for renewal? I have never got one. Not that they are with anything but that they offerd and never sent them in addition to the WLP crap.

I got a call a few months back and said I'd be happy to do a long term or life membership if 2 conditions are met. WLP is gone and I get at least half of the at least 20 or more gifts I was supposed to get for all the years I was a member.

    I guess they dont care.

If I had a choose when I renewed I would have said keep the gift and use the money for other things. But it just speaks to the general mismanagement. IMHO

I was a member for decades.
Some simple math proved they spent more on printing and postage for crap filling my mailbox than I was actually paying in membership dues.

The money was being used to try to raise more money.

    I haven't sent a dime in a long time.

    Oh, yeah.

Hats, jackets, totes, knives, pins, coins and probably other types of merch occasionally show up in my mail. I probably have 20 pieces of that swag.

The knives are cheap. The pins are useless. The hats never fit my fat head. The totes get used for situations where they will get worn out and thrown away; I.e. they're nothing special. The challenge coins are probably the most useless thing they've ever sent me.

A couple of the jackets have been reasonably nice. One of them is my go-to cover for mildly cool days.

Oddly, the flow of merch has stopped since I stopped sending them money. :)

My cousin works for the telephone service that makes NRA calls. She tells me that on 99% of the calls she hears anti-WLP stuff. Her thought - and I have to agree - is that you can choose to either avoid the NRA or you can be part of it and actively work to remove that cancer. The NRA remains a powerful lobbying influence, so dumping it is kind of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I'm never solicited by the NRA.

But, then I'm only an associate member who pays the meager sum of $10.00 annually to stay in good standing, so I'm thinking I'm way off their radar...why would they ask a cheap bastard like me for money?

I have to be a member to keep my range membership, otherwise I'd be keeping that tenner.

Oh, and fk wlp whose a cancer on the NRA.

I don't understand how they don't see that if they got rid of Wayne, they would greatly increase support and donations. Just do it already instead of riding the NRA into the dirt. Geez

They never sent me any of those gifts either.

    I finally cut them loose.
