I am looking to find a hog hunt for a few friends and myself. Looking like sometime late September we will all be in Texas at the same time. Hopefully we can find both a hog and dove hunt combo. Not trying to break the bank but understand that hunts do cost money. Please let me know if you got anything.

There are a lot of day hunt locations available, but you’re unlikely to find a good deal asking strangers.

Times have changed a lot and most people who used to be willing to allow a hunter every now and then have been burned by property damage and other stupidity enough times that they just don’t do it anymore.

Those that are willing have seen that hogs went from a destructive nuisance to a profitable nuisance and have adjusted accordingly. If someone just wants them gone they will typically avoid hunters and rely on trapping which works much better anyways.

Good luck in your search, but you’re probably better off looking at advertised locations. Some aren’t too expensive and include some other amenities for getting away with your buddies.

    Out here by the lake!
Unless your planning on using thermal or night vision when you are talking about hunting is going to suck. Sure they will come to feeders at dawn or dusk, but in the heat hogs tend go nocturnal.

If you just want to shoot one, two or maybe three depending on property and stands you can use a Varmint light mounted to your gun. Green or red lens is needed. I use green mostly and anytime after dark is good. I work with the feeders at 60-80ish yards from an elevated stand. Early just after 0 dark thirty am is also a good time. No light needed but this will likely be a one pig take.

I hope you find a spot. Don't be too discouraged, there are reasonable hunts out there but you'll either spend serious coin or make a lengthy road trip. Possibly both but hog hunting in September is better than mid summer. Fleas and ticks love hogs in the heat.
