Howdy all. After the unplanned stop in Lubbock and another 4+hr delay in Dallas, we finally made home about midnight thirty.

ProTip for flyers: Be prepared. Not that TSA has ever been efficient, but now they are also overwhelmed with people who rarely fly and don’t know how to get thru the line in one pass. We travel using the pre-check lane and have rarely had more than a minute wait to get thru the line. At both small airports (SAT, COS) we waited upwards of 5 mins to get thru pre-check. Both places were hampered by not having enough staff to have multiple xray/magnetometer lines running.

Also, if you’re traveling with a gun, expect there will only be on station at the airport now and don’t expect it to be manned during normal TSA hours. Had to wait for them to pull a trained guy off the ‘normal’ lines to check my gun and take it to the back.

Airports felt ‘full’ again but it was very evident no airline/hotel/eatery is ready, from a staffing standpoint, to manage the onslaught of leisure travelers. Pack your patience, plan for delays and cancellations, set low expectations, and remind yourself how great it is to be able to freely travel with a firearm.

If you’re asking, yes; about 3 feet of rain is an average annual total in your neck of the woods. We’re just shy of halfway through the year and your just shy of halfway to the avg total.
    Lubbock is a decent airport.
    Went through LAX yesterday. Oof!

    Anyway, what he said.

Been a long morning and nothing accomplished other than visiting the doctor for a report on my lab results.

She is prescribing something for reducing my cholesterol numbers, and wants me to adjust my diet accordingly. My blood pressure is still climbing and she's going to adjust my prescriptions for that as well. My blood sugar levels have risen to the point that I'm pre-diabetic and she want to start with my diet first before going to a prescription at this point.

She wants me to cut down on red meat, eat more chicken and fish, and vegetables, and cut down on my carbohydrates as well.

Bright side? At least she didn't suggest I become a vegan!
